2020-10-18 13:08:39This video highlights the dialogue between three important subjects, a 1742 Guarneri del Gesu violin on loan from the Stradivari Society, an extraordinary vase from the Chin Dynasty around 1742 (one of the museum's most important treasures), and the music of Bach. All of them were created around the same time and yet in very different circumstances and places. Please enjoy this unique musical conversation between the East and the West.

2020-04-12 16:47:56Violinist Paul Huang stopped by the Strings' studio to perform Eugène Ysaÿe's Sonata No. 3 in D minor, "Ballade." Huang performs on the 1742 “Wieniawski” Guarneri del Gesù, which is named for the Polish composer and violinist Henryk Wieniawski (1835-1880). Wieniawski performed on many instruments during his career, including a few Stradivari, but is said to have favored the 1742 del Gesù.

黃俊文的演奏行程滿檔，除了各大音樂節、獨奏會之外，還有與美國科羅拉多交響樂團、底特律交響樂團、巴爾的摩交響樂團、休士頓交響樂團、德國紐倫堡交響樂團、海德堡愛樂、俄國馬林斯基劇院樂團的合作演出。期待疫情快速消退，台灣的愛樂觀眾可以在9/4-5與黃俊文在台北國家音樂廳以及高雄衛武營見面。

This Friday: two fine violinists playing two fine fiddles! Paul Huang, Violinist and Danbi Um, Violinist perform works by Mendelssohn, Bloch, Korngold, Ysaÿe, Barlowe and Sarasate in a program curated by the North Shore Chamber Music Festival. Paul performs on a del Gesù violin, and Danbi on an Amati. They spoke to us about the program:

This is a unique musical conversation between the East and the West that was produced by the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan where Mr. Huang is the Artist-in-Residence this season."
