Do you feel that it is always time-consuming to charge a smart phone?
Here is good news for all smartphone users!
ITRI and Stanford University co-developed an ultra-fast rechargeable aluminum-ion battery, which can complete a charging cycle in only 60 seconds. The battery consisting of an aluminum anode and a graphitic-foam cathode withstands more than 7,500 charge-discharge cycles without any capacity decay, showing advantages such as low cost, good safety, flexibility, low flammability, rapid-charging, and long durability. In addition to small smart devices, aluminum-ion batteries could be used to store renewable energy in electricity grids, electric motorcycles and bicycles. The research result has been published in Nature in April.
