As we still cannot fly to Japan right now, what we need the most is to scope out some of the best Japanese 🇯🇵 cuisine in Hong Kong. Recently, I have visited a Japanese restaurant Nishikidon in the ISQUARE. It provides fantastic high quality Japanese food🍣. You should come if you are looking for a casual yet appetising Japanese meal.
Their new signature temaki sushi (手巻き寿司) made from Minced Tuna, Spring Onion & Sea Urchin requires you to do it yourself (蔥花拖羅蓉海膽自己捲). I can definitely feel the crispness of the nori seaweed while rolling the sushi🍙. The tuna is extremely fresh and mouth-watering 🤤with the elegant sweetness from sea urchin. The most signature component is the crispy nori seaweed which matches perfectly with the squashy seafood.
The Tuna Double - Decker Don ( 黑鮪二重泡漬丼) gives me a double enjoyment by offering fresh Tuna sashimi with Chazuke ( #茶漬け )🍵. The meaty yet creamy tuna is extremely soft and fresh. Barely does it require any chewing as it liquefy and fulminate into pure umami in my mouth when it hits my tongue😋.
The Nishiki Don - Sliced Sashimi Don (錦丼 - 什錦刺身) is another signature food item with lots of raw seafood giving you the fresh taste of ocean🌊. The complexity of flavour and texture from all the seafood makes you feel like sitting in front of a gourmet symphony orchestra by the bay.
The Sashimi Salad (刺身沙律) 🥗and Assorted Tempura (雜錦天婦羅) 🍤are also of very high quality. Nishikidon has made the best use of fresh food while preserving its delicate taste.

【12/8的聖誕化學fun fact】聖誕拉砲的爆爆化學
在歐美,人們在聖誕節party上多多少少都會準備一種用彩色包裝紙紮成糖果狀的拉砲,當成遊戲的一種。這種拉砲裡面通常會藏著一些小禮物,通常是一些小玩具、實用文具、糖果零食等小東西。像抽獎一樣,你挑選一顆聖誕拉砲,然後和身邊的人一人拉一頭,拉砲「ㄆㄧㄚ」一聲炸開的時候,裡面的小禮物也跟著掉出來,驚訝又驚喜。
聖誕拉砲裡面所用的起爆物質,叫做「雷酸銀(silver fulminate),是一種對於熱、壓力與電極度敏感的物質。工廠製作聖誕拉砲時,將雷酸銀粉末夾在兩層摩擦媒介之間,這兩層摩擦媒介延伸到糖果的兩端,所以當兩端被人拉的時候會使得摩擦媒介擦過雷酸銀,引起立即的爆炸。
台灣好像沒有玩聖誕拉砲的習慣(因為我們有更厲害的水鴛鴦和大龍砲),但是這種抽獎遊戲的小物確實能增加過節的歡樂氣氛呢~
