On Friday, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin floated a new concept of “integrated deterrence.” It calls for allies to work “hand in hand” to prepare for a future war, which will look nothing like the “old wars” that Austin said he himself has executed over the past two decades.

“When you look at China’s submarine bases, every single one of them has a fair bit of shallow water that their submarines have to transit through in order to get to deep water,” Tom Shugart, a former U.S. Navy submariner.

A quick look at Google Earth shows that China’s coast is surrounded by light blue — which reflects shallow seas — in contrast to the dark blue deep waters that immediately drop off from the east coasts of Taiwan and Japan.

“For them to move from China’s near seas to the open ocean, they’re going to have to transit through different chokepoints and straits in the island chains,” said Shugart, also an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security think tank. “That will provide opportunities for an adversary — the U.S. and our allies’ submarine forces — to monitor more closely and try to intercept them if we were involved in a conflict, or in the run-up to a conflict.”

法律的條文規定讓開泛舟相關課程變得複雜，儘管在台灣有這麼多條適合泛舟的溪流，卻只有少數幾家業者從事相關產業，希望將來有一天溪流也可以開放給大家，我相信未來一定有機會實現，而且開放的機率很大!

Any day rafting is a better than a day when you’re not rafting. :) It’s one of the most fun activities you can do. But due to regulation related to water activities, it’s very difficult for tour operators to do commercial tours. Individuals can of course buy your own raft (not cheap), get your own equipment, and use two cars to move rafts around… but even then… where would you get the experience? The regulation to open a class is just as complicated. Despite having many great rivers for it… the industry doesn’t exist beyond a few Class I tours. I hope that one day the rivers will open up too. There's an opportunity here. A big one.

　東京タワーを横目に首都高を走り、レインボーを渡った先にある「海ほたる」は、その名の通り海が見えるパーキングエリアです。中にはご飯屋さんやゲーセンがあり、割と普通の建物ですが、とにかく、とにかく雰囲気が良いです。よくお母さんが車で連れてってくれます。
　海ほたるに来る途中のにあるトンネルで、一部海の下を通るものがあります。小さい頃からそこを通る時に「海の中だよ！」と言ってくれるのですが、「は？トンネルジャン」って思ってたのが懐かしいです。海底の砂の中に埋まってるトンネルだから、海が見えるはずもないのに謎に期待してました笑
　いつか私も首都高を余裕で運転できる運テクキャリアウーマンになって自分の子供を連れてってあげたいななんて思います。
　気分爽快にドライブしたい時に本当におすすめです。ぜひ行ってみてください！
