It’s 5pm and I have a dinner at 6:30pm. But I’m starving from one bowl of congee all day. Oh well a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do - Eat. Now! So my colleagues urged me towards the newly opened Shake Shack in IFC. It was a bit busy so there definitely is some hype. A 10min wait, good customer service, and I brought the goodies back to the office. Now I have tried In-N-Out in LA. It was great. Shake Shack here? Hmmm. Quite good. Although the grease paper bag was soaked in oil when I came back (hence the tissue under the burger) so that’s not the best sign for a guy on an imaginary diet, but the burger was still tasty despite it’s wet oily bread bottom. Fries a tiny bit hard and salty but that cheese was a winner I thought long and hard between organic apple juice and water and naturally ended up with a chocolate milkshake - first time at Shake Shack so go hard or go home right? HKD$154 - worth it? With the extortionate rent, I think so, just about, but every now and again though - but sort the oil out Shake Shack for takeaways! As a non American I have just about heard of the whole In-N-Out vs Shake Shack debate. I feel that I don’t know enough about burgers and fast food to see a great difference, but I do know a US In-N-Out burger VS a HK Shake Shack burger is unfair. The famous Lady M crepe layer cakes! At $75 (£7.50!) a slice, it's pretty extortionate. I think I'll save some money and replicate this at home instead 😆

Feeling on top of the world on the 148th floor of the USD$1.5bn Burj Khalifa, a building which took five years to build to its 830metres and completed in 2009 as the tallest building in the world. Costing an extortionate sum to go to the top floor as a tourist, but cutting out all the queues, you get to look down on mere 50floor skyscrapers as if they were little twigs. Be prepared for disorganised queuing and customer organisation on entry - I'm not exactly suggesting to barge your way through.....but it's an option 😁 A sweeping 360degree view of the Dubai landscape reveals the immense construction projects already completed and currently underway. A USD$215m showcase fountain is interesting from above but much better to see at ground level. The Dubai Mall which it is attached to and is the largest shopping mall in the Middle East is a maze of top class shops sprawled across a labyrinth of a map. We thoroughly enjoyed this modern, world class construction in the "new" downtown Dubai.
