聽完不明感染源逐字稿翻譯後英國人搖頭：He's talking bollocks. 這個詞頗為粗魯，不熟的人面前不要隨便用。

胡說八道，rubbish 或 nonsense 是比較文雅的說法，維基是這樣說的，請自行谷歌翻譯。

大家好，今天的冷知識比較像是趣聞，由一雙無法單獨成篇的冷梗組成。如果標題還不明顯，第二則含有宗教戲謔，不能接受就不要看謝謝。by 科宅

■1. 山姆大叔（Uncle Sam）是北美合眾國的人性化象徵，但山姆大叔姓什麼？腦筋動得快的同學可能會回答：大概是某個 A 開頭的字吧。畢竟要湊就湊齊 USA 是不？

不是耶。總之答案來——山姆大叔姓「威爾森」。本名是 Samuel Wilson，是一位實際存在的人物。欸欸～驚，第一次聽過山姆大叔是以真人為本。

是這樣，威爾森出生於 1766 年，曾在獨立戰爭中擔任軍隊中的肉品擔當，就是看顧獸欄裡的肉牛然後屠宰打包的小夥的工作。戰後威爾森在上紐約州的 Troy 立業成家，除了肉之外也賣當地黏土燒成的磚頭。

講到 Troy 順帶一提，在上紐約州，伊利運河一帶有許多地名來自希臘羅馬典故，例如 Ithaca（奧德修斯故鄉）、Syracuse（阿基米德故鄉），也有 Rome, Athens, Greece 等不俗的地名 XD 不知道當初是誰那麼古典。

威爾森事業有成，Troy 市的開基祖級的人物，他也積極參與公共事務，是老鄉都認得的一位有力人士。而在 1812 年戰爭中，威爾森重操舊業，負責供應美國陸軍 3000 桶牛肉。故事說，來自紐約 Troy 的士兵開玩笑表示裝牛肉的木桶上寫的「U.S.」是「老鄉山姆大叔熱情贊助」的意思，名號便從此流傳下來。

＊1812年戰爭中，美國人妄想解放加拿大而對英宣戰，結果被反殺，甚至 1814 年白宮、國會都被燒掉惹。那是美國首都唯一一次遭敵軍入侵。說來更是美國第一次入侵他國的嘗試。看來 3000 桶牛肉沒能提供戰力 Buff 效果啊。

這故事非常軼聞＋年代久遠難考據。有人仔細搜尋「山姆大叔＝合眾國」的形象出現在白紙黑字，年代似乎比 1812 年晚許多。但是又何奈，其實美國國會在 1961 年通過一條法案，正式追認了上述的故事，就是說 #官方設定 從此以後山姆大叔就姓威爾森無誤了 XD。

■2. 耶穌基督的中間名是Ｈ，全名 Jesus H. Christ ?!

說過了這則是很俚俗的玩笑，也是在新大陸獨有的。以下搞笑故事：

話說馬克吐溫小時候（也是山姆，本名 Samuel Clemens，而且小時候吐溫和他筆下的湯姆一樣是個紅髮小子）在印刷廠當學徒，那時一位有名的傳道家（Evangelist）來到 Hannibal 鎮上，要將講道的手稿排版印刷。一位比山姆資深的學徒排版排排排，為了要塞進一些添加的字，就必須絞盡腦汁挪空間，他就很皮的把 Jesus Christ 縮寫成了 J.C.。

傳道家收到排版印出的草稿，親自校對時發現了這手腳，整個人暴怒衝進印刷廠，找到老學徒把他釘在牆上，破口大罵道：「你好大膽，竟把救主的名號玷汙縮短！給我加回去，全部！」

最後在印製的版本上確實完整加上了全名，但......多了奇怪的東西混進去，印著「Jesus H. Christ」。到底是有多皮啊這位學長，又或者，那是因為需要把整個版拆掉重排很累，而發出的惡搞抗議吧。

有好事之徒頓悟，說其實 H 是 Harold 的意思，因為主禱文裡有寫：Harold be thy name. 其名哈洛 ← 其實原文是音近的 Hallowed，其名神聖。這是西方超老梗冷笑話之一。

當然中間名什麼的耶穌是不太可能有，西方姓名的慣例是逐漸形成的，遠古人若非顯赫不會有家名或姓氏。只會冠以家鄉辨識，例如「大數的掃羅」就表示其人來自 Tarsus 這地方。同理，耶穌的「全名」可能就是類似的「拿撒勒人耶穌」。而姓氏的另一個來源是顯示其職業，例如 Miller/Muller 表示磨坊主。逐漸表示其出身或職業的增辨用字，變成父子相傳的姓氏。

而歐洲人喜歡沿用前人的名字、並不避諱，導致大家都叫 John Miller 有點困擾，才在中間加幾個名字、字母以免搞混。

離題講個有名典故：杜魯門總統的中間名 Harry S. Truman 的 S 就代表字母 S。只因當初取名時拿不定主意紀念兩位名為 S 的長輩中的誰，乾脆折衷只寫個 S。然而杜魯門簽名時，還是會在 S 後面打上表示略縮的點點。

話題回到字母 H，為什麼耶穌基督和 H 有關係，幽默在哪？因是民間自發文化，沒有很肯定的答案。

或許 H 的戲謔之處在於重音抑揚令人想到英文「句中插入的咒罵話」（Expletive interjection），最常用的咒罵，像英式的 bloody 或更直白粗俗的 frigging 或 f*cking，都有人放在別人全名的中間來加強語氣囧。但你給耶穌中間加 H 嚴格說並不是髒話，別人無奈你何。而換成其他字母比較不彈牙順口～大概ㄅ

另一個比較有學問的猜想來自久遠的基督教文化。我們知道早期基督徒使用的是通用希臘語（koine Greek），直到四世紀聖耶柔米才翻譯出拉丁文版的聖經，利於向羅馬平民傳教——所以聖耶柔米是翻譯師的主保聖人。

但總之，早期在信徒之間發明了一些出於希臘語的秘密符號以象徵耶穌。其中就包含有名的魚 ἸΧΘΥΣ，寫成魚但其實是縮寫，讀成耶穌基督神子救主。也有把基督 ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ 的前兩個字母寫在一起的 chi rho 符號，君士坦丁表示畫在盾牌上戰無不勝。

然後，另一個神聖縮寫是 ΙΗς，看起來像拉丁字母 IHC，卻是希臘字母 iota-eta-sigma。是耶穌 ΙΗΣΟΥΣ 的前三個字母，現代 J 開頭的字在希臘拉丁語則是 I 開頭，而 ς 是 σ 字母在結尾時的彎彎寫法。

但在沒幾人識得古希臘語的近代，或許那古老的神祕符號就被美國老鄉解讀成了拉丁字母 JHC。J.C. 就如一開始的故事，是 Jesus Christ 很好懂，但多個 H 是怎麼？這時有人開玩笑說不定 H 是耶穌的中間名。或許謎底是這樣無厘頭吧。蘭登教授表示：

TLDR: #Breastfeeding is still (insert expletive) hard now, because Jude throws up like the Merlion frequently.

I’m writing this at 11:43pm, craving sleep so bad, but still sitting up in bed holding Jude against my chest in the hope that he will sleep deep enough so I can put him down on the bed without waking him. Just about 20 minutes ago, he threw up like the Merlion (again) while I tried to nurse him to sleep in bed. I feel like a failure every time this happens. Why can’t I stop him before he throws up? Why can’t I soothe him any other way besides nursing? Why do I have a fast letdown that causes him to gulp down too much milk too fast? Why do I suck at this bf (insert expletive) so bad?

And then, this smile. He flashes me this exact smile after throwing up. No fussing, no crying. It’s like “Ah Mama thanks for over-feeding me till I threw up, now I feel better!”

So, if you are in a similar situation, with a 11-week old baby who is breastfed and needs to nurse every 2 hours, and on top of that needs to comfort nurse in between, and on top of that you have a fast letdown and possible oversupply (I overdid the breastmilk boost), know that you are not alone.

Here are some things I’ve learnt on my bf journey so far that is totally in contrast to what the internet told me:
1) You CAN overfeed a breastfed baby. Because that’s what’s happening to me and Jude. He vomits or spits up a lot at least once a day, but he’s delivering good diaper output and putting on weight.
2) Some websites claim you never have to unlatch a baby; babies will know when they are full and unlatch themselves. Not true. Jude will nurse and nurse all day if I let him, or until he throws up like the Merlion. And no, it’s not a growth spurt. Because it’s every. single. day.
3) Some websites also claim that by 2 months, babies can sleep “through the night” or “in stretches of 4-6 hours”. They also claim that around the same time babies can go longer in between nursing. Not true. Because Jude is at 11 weeks and he still nurses every 2 hours, 3 at best, sometimes hourly. Even in the night.

Ok I shall now try to put Jude down in bed. Wish me luck. #breastfeedingjourney

Nick reacts to Westbrook after 76ers fan dumps popcorn on him: "This (expletive) is out of hand"

The fans of Philadelphia have always been a passionate bunch. They have always appreciated the superior talent that has passed through the city and the players who put their heart and soul into the game.

One player who embodies that notion is Hall of Fame guard Allen Iverson who put his 6-foot body on the line every night and led the 76ers to the NBA Finals in 2001. He put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into Sixers basketball and there is a reason why his number 3 jersey hangs in the rafters at the Wells Fargo Center.

While at Fan Fest on Saturday, Iverson took the stage to appreciate the fans just a bit more and he got very emotional talking about the love he received from them on a nightly basis.
