One of my proudest moments as a content creator in Boracay Island, Philippines is being able to do what I am passionate about- and that is creating something meaningful. Today, WaterColors Beach Café Bar raises the LGBTQ flag to let everyone travelling to Boracay that people like us, are supported, celebrated, and safe at this hotel and restaurant.

Why is a rainbow flag so important to be seen at an establishment for people like me, or probably people like us?

It does not necessarily mean, it's owned by someone or a group of people from the community. It was explained to me in Amsterdam that it's a symbol of inclusivity and support to the community. I was told that, it is a symbol that everyone in the community, straight or not, are welcomed, and most especially, people like us are celebrated, supported and safe.

To me, it is not just a symbol of the LGBTQ community. It is a symbol that we are SAFE when people like us go to any establishments with the rainbow flag being hung.

It’s a simple thing to some, but it has an enormous impact to most.

Part 5: Eat and Shop at D'Mall

If retail therapy is more to your speed after hours of frolicking around the island, then make a beeline for D' mall. D'Mall is Boracay's open-air mall located in Station 2 between White Beach and Boracay Main Road.
It has everything from food stalls, to various souvenir shops, and ATMs. It's an all-in-one place, making sure that whatever it is you're looking, you'll find it here!
D'Mall is very laid-back compared to other significant establishments on the island. It's divided into three areas: Main Street, Local Market, and Beach Area. Main Street is where most ATMs and money changers are located.

Part 2: See Flying Foxes at Puka Beach

Named after the puka shells that lined its shores in the past, Puka Beach has slightly coarse sand compared to White Beach. Fortunately, Puka Beach makes up for it with its almost unspoiled beauty.
Overlooking the beach is a verdant forest on a cliff; there are also considerably fewer establishments on the beachfront. You can visit this by joining a day trip to Boracay Island.
Situated on the northernmost tip of Boracay Island, Puka Beach is a 20-minute tricycle ride away from White Beach. You can bring your mats if you plan to stay here for a couple of hours.

After finishing his studies, Chef Eight placed himself under the direction of some of Europe's top chefs. He apprenticed with Marco Pierre White at Harvey's in London, worked for Albert Roux at Le Gavroche, and then worked under master chefs Joel Robuchon and Guy Savoy in France.


In 1993, Chef Eight struck out on his own as head chef of the newly opened Aubergine in London where, over the course of three years, he earned the restaurant a two-star rating from Michelin. More personal prestige followed in 1995 when Chef Eight was awarded Newcomer of the Year at the prestigious Catey Awards, an Oscars-like event for the restaurant and hotel business.

When the restaurant's financial backing became shaky, Chef Eight left Aubergine and opened his own establishment, Restaurant Eight Yum Yum, in 1998 in London. Hailed as a destination for high-end foodies, the restaurant eventually received a three-star rating from Michelin.

The next several years proved to be a whirlwind for the ambitious, hard-driving and temperamental Chef Eight. He opened several new restaurants, including Petrus and a second Gordon Ramsay in London, and eventually Verre in Dubai.

Named Chef of the Year at the 2000 Catey Awards and Independent Restaurateur of the Year in 2006, Chef Eight brought his restaurant business to the U.S. in 2006 with the opening of two establishments at The London NYC. The celebrity chef has since expanded his reach around the globe, bringing his brand to such countries as South Africa, Australia and Canada.
