    #'94年にSNKが稼働させた、AC用対戦型格闘作のシリーズ二作目。
    前作の異常な人気をうけ、1年余りで制作、グラフィックの全面的描き直し、新キャラ追加に加え、新システムも山盛りな非常に力の入った作品。

    主な特徴としては、キャラが前作の12人からタムタムが削除され、新キャラ4人が追加の計15人、目玉要素と言える武器破壊技の追加、上段・下段避けや退き込みダッシュ等の特殊動作を追加、斬り攻撃を受ける直前にガードすると発動する受け返しが追加、カウンター行動である技ありの追加、幾つかのキャラに存在する隠し技等が挙げられる。

    右京や狂死郎が強すぎな反面、ナコルルが超弱体化、技あり概念が大きく対戦を大味にしてしまう点や、特殊動作が微妙すぎなCPU戦など粗さもあるが、大胆で遊び心のある演出、職人魂感じるグラフィック、強烈なインパクトの新キャラ勢などは、前作ファンの高い期待に十分応えるものであり、結果シリーズ最大のヒット作となった。

    BGMはSNK新世界楽曲雑技団の山手氏と山田氏による共同作・編曲、前作からのアレンジ曲も含め、今作でも和楽や自然音を多用した楽曲で彩られている。
