    This video was filmed on my very first day in the gym with @tompurvisptrts at the tail end of May. He’d never met me before, and we were on the back of an impromptu 1-hr whiteboard lecture 📝 on what most of the world calls “warming up” and at RTS we generally refer to as “exercise preparation”.

    A lot of our later conversations were much more technical 🤓 but I thought this was a really accessible way to introduce Tom to many of you who won’t be aware of the man who is behind so much of the accurate information you’ve learnt over the years.

    Tom’s a big proponent of his own RTS motto of “Think science, speak client” and meeting the person you’re talking to “where they’re at” 🗣 You’ll note how casual his terminology was here because he wasn’t sure yet what I was comfortable with. A month later it would probably sound like French to most of the general population 😂

    Anyway, here he’s putting in quite simple layman’s terms what is happening during a warm-up set ⚡️ He’s just getting his muscles “used to” contracting, because 5 minutes ago they were doing nothing 😴

    Think of those sets in terms of their purpose. They’re to prepare your joints for the range they’re going to have to explore, your muscles to contract and the force they and their connective tissue are about to produce and translate respectively, and your neural system to make all of this happen with maximal effort 💯 Yes, the process will encourage increased blood flow so don’t worry about that🫀

    Lastly, they represent your opportunity to focus on what feels good today and what doesn’t 🤔 and what cues you’re going to focus on delivering in your set this session (based on either an intention bias or something in particular you’re working on or experimenting with) without the distraction of managing and controlling heavy load 🥵

    If you start thinking about your “non-working” sets in this manner, you might just find you stop wasting too much energy “getting warm” 🤒🤦🏻‍♂️ and instead spend it improving the readiness of your mind 🧠 muscles 💪🏽 and joints 🦾 to execute the sets ahead of you.

    Dumb Ways to Die is the theme song of the public service announcement campaign released by Metro Trains in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia to promote railway safety. Both the song and the campaign went viral briefly in November 2012 and received worldwide acclaim for its effectiveness, endearing and engaging quality. The song and campaign have grown so well-loved that the characters continue to be recognisable and have come to be featured in a video and mobile games including Dumb Ways to Die, Dumb Ways to Die 2: The Games, and Dumb Ways to Die 3: World Tour.

    This video contains the parody I've created for the song Dumb Ways to Die, cover on Dumb Ways to Die, Dumb Ways to Die parody, Dumb Ways to Die cover. My cover and parody have been inspired by the recent global health emergency, global health crisis caused by the rise of coronavirus, the spread of coronavirus in 2019, the spread of coronavirus (also called the Wuhan virus) in 2020 that is said to have originated from Wuhan, China.

    Dumb Ways to Die was written by John Mescall with music by Ollie McGill from The Cat Empire, who also produced it. It was performed by Emily Lubitz, the lead vocalist of Tinpan Orange, with McGill providing backing vocals. The band on the recording consists of Gavin Pearce on Bass, Danny Farrugia on drums and Brett Wood on guitar. It was released on iTunes, attributed to the artist "Tangerine Kitty" (a reference to Tinpan Orange and The Cat Empire). I do not own any legal right to the song, I am simply covering it for entertainment and education purposes.

    In this song, you’ll learn some useful tips on how to maintain good personal hygiene and avoid contracting the coronavirus / wuhan virus.

    The days are ticking by and it's getting close to just a month left to the big day 6th May - Battle of the Freaks 2! Side note Thank you Kit, for getting a shoutout for me by one of my idols Ms Bikini Olympia, @courtneykiing!!!

    My back is a lot better, not playing up but not taking any risk too in doing lower body workout. Was told by my physio i can do some of my usual stuff but at half my normal weight (which is suuppppperr boring), barely broke a sweat, hence focused a lot on making sure my tempo and mind muscle connection were there. Best time to focus on the little details when injured.

    Upper body i maintained the program but was told to do cardio everyday. i personally asked for it to so i don't waste time. After 4 days of consistent steady state cardio, i could see some significant changes, weight dropped, so did the body fat percentage base on the InBody analysis at Koa.

    Got in more posing practice in this week and learnt how to do the quarter turns. Posing is a frigging workout on it's own, learning how to think about contracting the right muscles, especially making sure my trap goes down and getting my delts to pop. But glad overall i'm seeing good changes and my coach says so too.

    I finally managed to do some legs on Friday! Instead of squats swapped it to split squats with hamstring curls, less pressure on my lower back.

    Nutrition hasn't changed, sticking to the 50g of carbs and below. At the end of the video, i give an idea of what 50g of carbs looks like. For example in one day i would eat

    4 rice cakes, 50g of blueberries, 50g of raspberries, 30 almonds and 1 tablespoon of chia seed. All that is equivalent to eating one bowl of cooked white rice or even 2 medium size bananas

    Low carbs isn't so bad in my opinion. i've gotten used to it, and my body feels a lot better on this diet plan. However i need to be careful with my cheats. Learnt that I can't take a LOAD of dairy (had 2 scoops of gelato - BAD IDEA!), cause it bloats the heck out of me. This was after 2 ribs, 1 chicken thigh, french fries, rice and roti boy.. the gelato and the cheese bake tart undid me...sigh. Well at least i know from here.

    Very productive week and what I need most of now is REST! The comp is coming soon!!

    Congrats to my buddy Kam on winning in his division for powerlifting and it as usually cheatmeals are better with company. Nana we will begin our #cheatmealbucketlist! :P
