I’ve always been really fascinated with my baba nyonya (peranakan) heritage. My mum would tell us stories of our grandparents, how my mum’s adoptive mother came from a affluent family where they spoke English, played violin and piano, ballroom danced at home. Each child even had their own maidservant. @prissykhoo and I grew up listening to all of my mum’s amazing childhood stories. How she was given away when her family was grief-stricken after gambling away an estate worth of inheritance. Her first few years staying in a mansion and having to move when she was 7, how she found her real sisters when she was in primary school; her secret plans with her cousin Mike that promised her an education (but his passing due to Leukemia meant her future study plans was cut short), or how her heart leaped the first time she saw my father (and stalked him). She was a small town Penang girl that made it to the airline, and proceeded to travel the world. My mother has stories that would give K-dramas a run for their money. So we decided that we’d like to share them with you once we can collate them. So stay tune for our little sister project - to bring you the magical world that is my mother’s life. Now to think of a name for that page. Suggestions?

 Each time I am here I am spoiled for choices! 😅 I manage to collate a list of F&B places that I've tried in @pavilionkualalumpur. Swipe left for more! 1) BETJEMAN & BARTON - For all high tea lovers, B&B offers a wide range of high-quality teas from France as well as some finger food and desserts. Looking for a place to kick back and relax after a long day of shopping? This is it. 2) GEO WINE NAT - An ideal spot to perch & unwind after work as it is situated on Level 9. They also offer a fine selection of booze & delicious bar food such as salted egg fish skin, lamb chop and pasta that will satisfy all your umami cravings! 3) ILLY CAFFE - A great meet up spot for coffee lovers as their coffee is from Italy & food as well. Their high ceiling window makes it the perfect place to shoot your aesthetic IG post. 4) KAMPACHI - Kampachi brings in freshly caught fish from Tokyo & Osaka weekly. It’s only natural for you to try their 9 types of thick-cut sashimi platter. You’re welcome in advance for the recommendation. 😉 5) LA BODEGA - It offers diners a taste of Spain with a widespread of tapas, paellas, pasta and pates. My fav would be the pulpo🐙 as they nailed the texture and flavour right. Can’t say no to their Seafood Paella & Gambas Al Ajillo each time I’m here. 6) LA BOCA - The only ONE Latino bar in Pavilion KL serving traditional Latino food. The highlight of this place wasn’t just the food but also the ambience and upbeat vibes (because it makes me wanna dance💃🏽).
With Pico de gallo, quesadilla, empanadas, and a mezcal in my hand, I think I’ve never been more Señorita than this. :3 7) MAISON - Home to an array of delectable pastries and desserts, delightful main courses, and specialty coffees.
