[Singapore] I took this from a high point in Bugis, those buildings are from the Orchard Road area, as you can identify TANGS departmental store from the traditional Chinese architectural building on the right of the picture, it was modelled after the Forbidden City. Wangfujing has always been frequently nicknamed as the “Orchard Road in Beijing” by many Singaporeans, as both are shopping streets located in the heart of the city. Coincidentally, there is also a shopping mall with a Chinese looking architectural design, and that is the Beijing APM (or Xindong’an Plaza). I used to visit Beijing a few times annually before the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world and almost brought the world to a standstill. I felt a sense of familiarity when I saw the scene in this picture, as though I am in Beijing again. All we can do now is to pray hard, as governments start to rewire the world economy and rethink about different long term pandemic strategies, hopefully we can see an end to all these in the near future.
