The Ark of Bukhara is a massive fortress located in the city of Bukhara that was initially built and occupied around the 5th century AD. When the soldiers of Genghis Khan took Bukhara, the inhabitants of the city found refuge in the Ark but the conquerors smashed the defenders and ransacked the fortress. During Battle of Bukhara the Ark was greatly damaged by Red Army troops. In just a few days, it will be the hundred year anniversary for the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. It kick-started the reign of communism in Russia by forcing the abdication of Tsar Nicholas and collapsing the Imperial Russian Empire. Although in hindsight, we could now see the many flaws of communism, one could not deny how hopeful the Bolsheviks were at creating a more equal world for the proletariat. However, as the story goes, their hopes would be never rewarded by the corrupt despots who took away their property, rights and to many, their lives. In 2017, we find ourselves embroiled in the rise of nationalism. The common folk once more choosing a strong man who made empty promises to solve their problems, all the while continuing their warmongering, racism and corruption in the background. It's great to hope, but let's pick our leaders based on their results not their promises. No one should be held above the law. If there is a lesson in the communist experiment, it is that the sins of our past will always be remembered with intense scuritiny by future generations. #trump #satire #comics
