2021-01-21 12:25:21Dangerous Seed is a 1989 vertically scrolling shooter arcade game developed and published in Japan by Namco. Controlling one of three different starships, the player is tasked with destroying an alien race known as the Danger Seed before they wipe out all of mankind. Each ship has their own set of weapons and abilities, such as shots that dissolve enemies and target-seeking projectiles, and can sustain multiple hits before being destroyed. The player's ships can also combine into a new ship, the Moon Diver, featuring a stronger shield and additional weapons. It ran on the Namco System 1 hardware.
The game was designed by Yuichiro Shinozaki, a character artist for Namco's own Babylonian Castle Saga franchise, with music composed by Yoshinori Nagumo. Early versions of the game were known as Kristallkern, which remains in-game during the end credits. A conversion for the Sega Mega Drive was released a year later in 1990, which included new features such as additional stages and an arranged soundtrack. Dangerous Seed was met with mixed reviews from critics — although the game was praised for its graphics, fast-paced gameplay and soundtrack, it was criticized for lacking originality and for being unable to stand out among other similar games. Some reviewers stated it was one of the better shoot'em ups released for the Mega Drive.

🖊The fact that this tale is still being read today is itself remarkable. It is the Epic of Gilgamesh, engraved on ancient Babylonian tablets 4,000 years ago, making it the oldest surviving work of great literature. We can assume that the story was enormously popular at the time, given that later iterations of the poem can be found over the next millennium.

🗿Although we have no firm evidence of storytelling before the advent of writing, we can assume that narratives have been central to human life for thousands of years. The cave paintings in sites like Chauvet and Lascaux in France from 30,000 years ago appear to depict dramatic scenes that were probably accompanied by oral storytelling.

「實驗」是當代考古學的重要方法。在實驗之中，我們不光能找回歷史曾經發生的條件，也有機會讓我們今天有機會復刻過往的人曾經有過的生活或是感官體驗。
這篇來自【DQ地球圖輯隊】上的文章，帶我們看到考古學者如何復原自三千多年前的泥板食譜，也帶我們藉此體會到過往歷史裡消失的味覺。

解讀古老泥板食譜
過去兩年，來自哈佛和耶魯大學，一群專攻食物歷史、食物化學與楔形文字的學者們都在研究全世界最古老的食譜。他們先解讀耶魯大學巴比倫尼亞考古文物館(Yale University's Babylonian Collection)保存的泥板食譜，再用科學推理煮出最貼近史料的料理，透過味蕾了解古代文化。
美索不達米亞地區的料理
主要被研究的有三塊西元前 1730年、一塊西元前 700多年前的泥板食譜。這些食譜都來自過去的美索不達米亞地區，也就是古城巴比倫的所在地，現在則包含伊拉克首都巴格達(Baghdad)、敘利亞部分地區及土耳其部分地區。
記載各種燉物與湯品
最古老的一塊泥板食譜包含了 25道燉物與湯品料理，其中 4道素食料理以楔形文字特別標註為「綠料理」。另外兩塊泥板食譜則收錄了 10道料理與極為完整的料理作法，但因泥板本身損壞嚴重而難以解讀。目前，該團隊已經成功重現了 3道料理。
