“The Origin of Life”, watercolor and gouache on Fabriano paper. My contribution to the upcoming group show by @wowxwow_art “Whispers lead the way” which opens tomorrow. The inspiration comes from documentaries about deep sea venture. On the ocean floors, close to the active volcanos lay hydrothermal vents that spew extremely hot and toxic fluids and gas from the centre of Earth. Yet in such extreme conditions life continues to thrive, crustaceans feed on the mineral rich water around the vents, and this challenged what we know about the necessary conditions for life to exist. Scientists started to suggest a new theory, in which life could have begun somewhere deep in the ocean rather than shallow surface. Non-living matters had been “cooked” by these deep sea geysers until they became living entities. Thus, the origin of life - Abiogenesis.
