    High-level officials representing the American Institute in Taiwan, the U.S. Department of State, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant U.S. and Taiwan ministries convened for a virtual forum on August 19, 2020, to expand Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations. The discussion focused on creating platforms for the international community to benefit from Taiwan’s expertise, including the internationally lauded Taiwan Model on COVID-19. AIT Director Brent Christensen said, "Taiwan is an exemplary partner in addressing the world’s most serious challenges and is a force for good in the world. The United States remains committed to supporting Taiwan in its efforts to play a more active role in the international community as a responsible global citizen."
