    常言道:「小病是福」,小病不想看醫生,就可以利用食材的天然功效,例如食東南亞菜常見的香茅,除了味道清香,其實功效甚多,香茅性溫,能疏風解表、祛瘀通絡,用熱水沖泡香茅茶飲用,有助紓緩初起風寒感冒,症狀包括怕冷、頭痛、頸部肌肉痠軟、喉嚨痕癢、咳嗽痰色白、鼻塞流清鼻涕等;亦有助紓緩不時發作的風濕痺痛、胃痛。
    呈長條狀的香茅該用哪一部份?香茅整條都能使用,其葉片和莖外層較硬,剝開後也可以用來泡茶,而入廚則多數取用內裡較嫰的部份,一般取用後2/3段的香茅莖,斜切片或粒使用,切之前先用刀背拍一拍,有助香味散發。

    香茅 ── 又名檸檬草,性溫,有疏風解表、祛瘀通絡的功效,適合風寒感冒咳嗽、胃痛、泄瀉、風濕痺痛時食用。

    Lemongrass against minor ailments
    ‘Minor ailments are considered blessings’, if we do not wish to consult a doctor, we can opt for natural remedy like lemongrass, which is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine. 

    Besides its pleasant fragrance, lemongrass has many effects. It is warm in nature, can expel wind to relieve exterior syndrome, promote the meridian and clear blood stasis. Drinking lemongrass that has been boiled in hot water can relieve cold-related flu at the early stage, which carries symptoms such as aversion to cold, headache, sore neck muscles, itchy throat, white phlegm, nose block and clear mucus. Lemongrass can also relieve pain that is caused by rheumatism and gastritis.
    Which part of the lemongrass should we use then? We can use the entire stem, but the outer leaves tend to be thicker. Once they are peeled off, we can use the outer coat to make tea, and save the softer inner part for cooking. The last 2/3 of the stem is normally used in cooking, and they will be sliced diagonally or diced into small bits. Smack the lemongrass with a knife’s back to release the fragrance. 

    Lemongrass – warm in nature; expels wind to relieve exterior syndrome, promotes the meridian and clears blood stasis; can be consumed to relieve cold-related flu, cough, gastric pain, diarrhea and pain caused by rheumatism.

    慎防冬季風寒腹瀉
    冬日寒風呼呼的吹著,一不小心就容易染上風寒感冒,伴隨症狀是怕冷、頭痛、喉嚨痕癢、咳嗽痰色白、鼻塞流清鼻涕,如果寒邪侵襲脾胃,以致脾運化功能失常,甚至會出現嘔吐及腹瀉的情況,風寒型腹瀉的大便較為清稀,臭味不重,伴有腹脹及腹痛,治療方法為溫中散寒,宜適量進食驅寒暖胃的食物,例如飲用薑茶、炒米水等;忌吃屬性寒涼生冷、滋補油膩的食物,例如香蕉、梨、蜂蜜、西瓜、苦瓜、青瓜、大部分海鮮等,以免加重風寒症狀。
    除了飲食調護,平日可以按壓合谷、天樞、足三里穴,增加身體胃腸機能作用,改善風寒腹瀉症狀。
    腸胃容易受到風寒的人,冬季要注意保暖,尤其腰腹位置,因為腰腹受寒容易也引致腹痛、腹瀉。

    增強脾胃功能保健穴位:
    合谷穴
    功效:緩解腸胃不適,紓緩噁心欲吐、頭痛等症狀。
    位置:大拇指與食指間虎口處,第一掌骨與第二掌骨間連線的中點。
    按法:拇指指腹以陰力按揉約2-3分鐘。
    注意:孕婦不宜按壓此穴位,因為有催生作用。

    天樞穴
    功效:疏調大腸,扶土化濕,理氣消滯。
    位置:腹中部,肚臍旁邊2寸(約3指寬度),腹直肌中。
    按摩方法:睡前或晨起先躺著,以左右拇指指腹打圈按壓穴位,1-2分鐘。按壓此穴位有助健脾化濕,舒緩腹脹、腸鳴、嘔吐、水腫及便秘等症狀。

    足三里穴
    功效:保健脾胃,紓緩胃痛、腹瀉、便秘等問題。
    位置:位於外膝眼(膝蓋側的凹位)對下4隻手指下的位置。
    按法:拇指指腹以陰力按揉約2-3分鐘。

    Winter flu season is coming. You may experience cold wind flu symptoms such as aversion to cold, headache, itchy throat, coughing, white phlegm, stuffed nose, and clear mucus. Cold pathogens invade the spleen and stomach that will lead to difficulty circulating fluids, and may even cause vomiting and diarrhea. The stool of cold wind diarrhea is relatively thin, the smell is not strong, and it is accompanied by abdominal bloating and abdominal pain. You can alleviate these symptoms by warming the body and dispeling cold. You should appropriately consume ingredients that can dispel cold and warm the stomach, such as ginger tea, fried rice water.     Acupoints to strengthen the spleen and stomach:
    Union Valley (He Gu) Point
    Effects: alleviates stomach discomfort symptoms, nausea, vomiting, headache.
    Location: between the thumb and index finger, right next to the second metacarpal bone
    Usage: gently press on it and also rotate around in small circles with you thumb. Massage for 2-3 minutes each time.
    Note: pregnant women should not press these acupoints as it has labour inducing qualities.

    Tian Shu Point (Celestial Pivot)
    Effects: regulates the intestines, supports the spleen function to remove dampness, and regulates qi to aid digestion.
    Location: center of the abdomen, two inches (3 finger-breadths) from the belly button.
    Usage: before bed or when you have just awoken but still lying down, use both thumbs to massage acupoint in circles for 1-2 minutes. Massaging this acupoint helps to strengthen the spleen to remove dampness, relieves symptoms of stomach bloating and gurgling, vomiting, edema and constipation.

    Zu San Li Point
    Effects: strengthens spleen and stomach, relieves symptoms of stomach pain, diarrhea and constipation.
    Location: on the anterior aspect of the lower leg, four-finger breadth below knee cap.
    Usage: gently press on it and also rotate around in small circles with you thumb. Massage for 2-3 minutes each time.

    出門在外,最怕是感覺到自己作病,喉嚨痛、乞嚏、鼻水開始找上門,感冒初起的症狀逐漸浮現,人在異地看醫生不容易,可以暖飲檸檬水增強抵抗力,再利用香草和花茶的療效!香草和花茶在大型超級市場甚至街市市集都容易買到,甚至不少Cafe都有供應此類飲品,風熱感冒適宜飲用菊花、薄荷、牛蒡茶,而風寒感冒適合飲用香茅、迷迭香或乾薑,新鮮和乾香草泡茶皆可以,以熱水沖泡即可,有助紓緩不適症狀,當然如果病情嚴重宜找醫生治理。
    
    風熱感冒症狀:發燒、頭痛、喉嚨痛、咳嗽痰黃、口乾、流黃稠鼻涕等。
    風寒感冒症狀:怕冷、頭痛、頸部肌肉痠軟、喉嚨痕癢、咳嗽痰色白、鼻塞流清鼻涕等。
    
    薄荷 ── 性涼,有宣散風熱和透疹的作用,適合風熱感冒、喉嚨不適、口瘡、熱咳黃痰、牙痛時食用。注意陰虛體質人士不宜多服。
    
    菊花、洋甘菊 ── 性寒,具有安神及袪風解表的作用,對於因風熱而起的感冒及風濕疼痛也有紓緩功效。
    
    香茅 ── 性溫,有疏風解表、祛瘀通絡的功效,適合風寒感冒咳嗽、胃痛、泄瀉、風濕痺痛時食用。
    
    迷迭香 ── 性溫,具有健胃發汗功效,適合風寒感冒咳嗽、胃脹胃痛、消化不良時食用。注意陰虛火旺者不可多吃。

    Ingredients:
    Rice (cold) 2 bowls
    Ginger juice 2 tbsp
    Eggs 2 Nos.

    Preparation:
    1. Ginger, get it peeled.
