(Friends & Family Preview) @persea.sg is due to open officially on 1st January 2021. Those of you who watch your carb intake should take note of this place because Head Chef @jason_vito82 and his team have created a ketogenic modern Mediterranean menu. One done so precisely, they even calculate and state the nett amount of calories of every dish. In terms of space, Persea occupies three levels of the building with the open kitchen and counter seating taking up most of the ground floor. When you walk up the spiral staircase, you’ll see the second level is more spacious and thus, suited for lounging. The bar is located there and @mrdropitlikeitshot is ready to shake and stir whatever you like. I wasn’t having alcohol that evening, so he concocted me a drink with @seedlipdrinks’ Garden 108. Obviously, I was most keen on the food menu. Thus, Chef Jason seated us at the kitchen counter, right where I could see him and Chefs @dannylaw93, @jashandon and @alisonnnzx prepare small and big plates of their distinctive cuisine. I realised they weren’t kidding when they said their food is high in fat because landing in front of us first were Chicharrons ($6) and the Butter Of The Day ($8). The former, a bowl full of airy-light crunchy pork rinds, were hard to stop once we got started on them. For the latter, I could only do two balls as the cold butter, mixed with blue cheese and walnuts, was very rich and creamy. Served after were the Cauli-hummus ($10), a blend of cauliflower in two ways with tahini and za’atar, and the wittily named “Faux-caccia” (it’s made with different nuts and was really substantial). This gluten-free bread proved to also be a good fit for the Eggs Muhammara ($14), a shakshouka-like dish made with burnt capsicums, chives, walnuts and pimenton. Can you imagine only 5 grams nett of carbs existed in that? The standard serving of foie gras is two pieces but because Chef Jason wanted to let us try a wider variety, he served only one. It’s aromatic and tasty as curry leaves, Turkish yellow spice, hazelnuts and pomegranate were used to balance the richness of the duck liver. ⬇️Continue in Comments⬇️

🇭🇰 Sheep and Pig is a cozy fusion eatery in Tin Hau, wittily named after its three young owners' Chinese surnames.  We came to taste its signature maki roll, which was a pink spicy tuna rendition filled with fried shrimp and avocado - unconventional but nevertheless inventive and tasty.  It was however some of the more traditional items that were the stars with its Japanese style beef bowl, deliciously-sauced with a slow-cooked egg, while the cold inaniwa udon was refreshing for a hot summer day.  With an interior designed to attract a youthful crowd, Sheep & Pig is home to surprisingly palatable plates, but with its wallet-friendly price tag, it is alluring not just to youngsters but rather hungry diners of all ages.
