#TAMORAK共學園 創辦人林淑照一個身分是紀錄片工作者，但另一個身分是漢人。1998年來到花蓮豐濱鄉港口部落後，原本要幫部落頭目拍攝紀錄片，但一待就是20多年，不僅有了阿美語名字「Nakaw」也嫁給阿美族丈夫，就此成為阿美媳婦。大女兒出生後，Nakaw便有意識要跟孩子說阿美語，由自己創造母語環境。Nakaw強調從生活學習，像是帶孩子做掃把、種絲瓜順便認識生物鏈、認識潮間帶與採集野菜等等，一路上孩子透過視覺、觸覺、聽覺與味覺等一切體驗都是部落文化的精髓。

被孩子稱為「校長」的馬躍‧比吼，在花蓮秀姑巒溪附近創辦 #Pinanaman河邊教室，同樣也是強調透過日常生活來學習文化。經常有人問他怎麼學母語，他總說：「我們沒有母語課，我們是用母語學習全部的東西。」馬躍表示，傳統母語教學將兒歌翻譯成各族語言，與生活經驗脫節，唱的仍然是中文思維；透過生活體驗學習母語，孩子可以從四季的變換與家裡的寵物都唱進歌裡。

Getting to grips with Mandarin can be a struggle in itself for foreigners in #Taiwan, but Taiwan has a rich range of #indigenous cultures and languages to explore too. Unfortunately, in the past, these cultures weren’t given the respect or status they deserve, which has led to younger generations being unable to speak their mother tongues. As attitudes have shifted, however, things are changing. One example of this is the Tamorak immersion school, which operates using the Amis (Pangcah) language.
