    自從開始練習 Roman Capitals 之後，我開始對於大寫字母的結構、設計有了更深一層的認識。另一方面，我也嘗試從現有的字體中發掘新的書寫設計靈感。當然說到 Roman Capitals，我想不得不提到 Trajan 這套以西元一世紀古羅馬的圖拉真柱的碑文作為藍本再重新復刻的字體，而這份碑文也被常被讚譽為世上最佳的 Imperial Roman 範本之一，其嚴謹的結構比例與流暢的線條，讓 Trajan 除了帶有大氣的王者之風之外，更多了細膩的優雅氣質。

    但就像是 Helvetica 一樣，當被使用的太頻繁時，大家就會開始尋找相近風格來替代它的字體。由於近年來大家對 Trajan 的熱愛，讓這套字體漸漸成為了電影海報界的 Helvetica（可以參考 Trajan is the Movie Font 短片），Fontshop 的 Yves Peters 整理了幾個可以替代 Trajan 的字體，裡面也包括了我很喜歡的 Stevens Titling 和 Canto 這兩套以 Brush 書寫作為基石來設計的字體，除了 Yves 提的到字體之外，另外我也十分喜歡由 Julian Waters 所設計的 Water Titling，除了將歐文書法的優美風格完美轉譯至字體之外，還設計了大量的連字和裝飾風格的替代字母供使用者選擇。下次在選用 Trajan 或是練習書寫 Roman Capitals 之前，不妨參考一下這些字體喔！
