聊到霍桑 (Nathaniel Hawthorne, 1804-1864)
這位美國傳奇小說家
他的文字優美
說話極其中肯（加一點厭世 XD）
讀了總讓人驚嘆不已

今天來和大家分享他的幾句金句
以及我的簡單翻譯：

1️⃣ Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
（那些在字典裡無辜無力的詞彙，落到懂得組合的人手裡，都能成為善與惡。）

2️⃣ I have laughed, in bitterness and agony of heart, at the contrast between what I seem and what I am!
（我心中充滿苦澀地笑著：表面上的我和真正的我，簡直就是天壤之別！）

3️⃣ A forced smile is uglier than a frown.
（強逼出來的笑容，比皺眉還要醜陋。）

4️⃣ No summer ever came back, and no two summers ever were alike. Times change, and people change; and if our hearts do not change as readily, so much the worse for us.
（沒有一個夏天會回來，也沒有兩個夏天會一樣。時節總會變遷，人總是來來去去。我們的心若跟不上改變的速度，可就大勢不妙。）
