    MORNING WITH MY JOURNAL:

My favorite part of the day when travelling was the morning coffee with my journal. Jotting down what I'd done/ will do.

Using a bit of imagination here to imagine Bologna's towers and porticoes and the ragu's I'd be having for lunch (at least the coffee's real ;)

Every time the school holidays end, I look forward to the next and start to think about the things we would do and places we would go.

It doesn't mean we have to step beyond our shore because I think there are plenty of fun places on the sunny island for us to explore - many of which we have yet to check out. I'm already looking forward to the month long June holidays even though we will not be going on a vacation this time round. I intend to take the kids to hop around the island, go outdoors every day and try out new experiences without having to spend a bomb.

To be able to have these kids with me from the moment I wake up and knowing that we have the whole day ahead of us to do whatever we want to, I guess that's the best thing about school holidays for me. Of course, being able to stay up late, sleep in more and not having to worry about daily homework, weekly spellings and enrichment classes, that's a bonus too.

Family time, it means everything to me.

Nope, this isn't an ad for @mcdsg, just a heartwarming story to share.

It was supposed to be a quick meetup this morning. I was going to pass our Moana birthday party supplies to a reader and I was feeling happy knowing that the things were going to be put to good use instead of being kept in our kitchen cabinet or worse, discarded after some time.

After waiting for a while, I called her (yesh, she was so nice to give me her contact yesterday) just in case she forgot about our date. She mentioned she was waiting for McGriddles (I had no idea what it was) and would make her way over shortly. At that point, she didn't even know that I was bringing her daughter a gift (she didn't see my IG stories yet) and all she knew was that I was going to pass her some leftover balloons and party stuff.

Yet, it turned out that the McDonalds breakfast was specially bought... for ME! She made her way to get this after dropping her kid in school while pushing her 7-month old baby girl in a pram. Oh gosh, I was overwhelmed and didn't think that I deserved that much goodness from this kind soul.

In the end, we stood there and had a good talk, just mum to mum. Oh, we both have three kids (one boy and two girls) and have kids who are in the same age. How coincidental, right? We spoke about primary school life, the endless spellings and homework, school buses that break down but don't inform you, having to bring out a little one to fetch the elder ones under the hot sun, baby carriers, chores and more. Gosh, I think we would have gone on and on if not for the fact that both of us had to go to the supermarket to get groceries to cook. Haha. So yup, we promised to set a breakfast date to catch up again.

From blog reader and social media follower to friend. You have no idea how much I appreciate and cherish this. Thanks so much for your kindness this morning, @lavausof, it's the best breakfast I've had for a long time because it is filled with so much love and heart. ❤

Gali Paranthe Wali or Parathe wali Gali (Hindi: गली पराँठेवाली, literally "the bylane of flatbread") is the name of a narrow street in the Chandni Chowk area of Delhi, India, noted for its series of shops selling paratha, an Indian flatbread.

The food is old fashioned, strictly vegetarian, and cooked dishes do not include onion or garlic, since the owners are Brahmins, and traditionally their clientele has included Jains in the neighborhood. Varieties include exotic fillings like kaju, badam, matar, Mix Paranthas, rabri, khoya parantha, gobhi parantha, Parat parantha, etc. The parantha is usually served with sweet tamarind chutney, mint chutney, mixed vegetable pickle, paneer and potato curry, potato and fenugreek curry, and a sauteed mash of sweet pumpkin.

A paratha is a flatbread that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is still prevalent throughout Pakistan and India, where wheat is grown and is the traditional staple of the area. Paratha is an amalgamation of the words parat and atta which literally means layers of cooked dough. Alternative spellings and names include parantha, forota (in Sylheti), parauntha, prontha, parontay, porota (in Bengali), palata (in Burma), and farata (in Mauritius, Sri Lanka and the Maldives).

Parathas can be eaten as a breakfast dish or as a tea-time (tiffin) snack. The flour used is finely ground wholemeal (atta) and the dough is shallow fried.

Perhaps the most common stuffing for parathas is mashed, spiced potatoes (aloo ka parantha) followed perhaps by dal (lentils). 'Many other alternatives exist such as leaf vegetables, radishes, cauliflower, and/or paneer. A paratha (especially a stuffed one) can be eaten simply with a pat of butter spread on top or with chutney, pickles, ketchup, dahi or a raita or with meat or vegetable curries. Some roll the paratha into a tube and eat it with tea, often dipping the paratha.
