Taiwan has seen a building frenzy for cultural centres in the recent decade. The latest offering is the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts at Weiwuying, a former military base in the eastern outskirts of Kaohsiung. Comparing with the Taichung National Theatre I visited last year, it is somewhat a more utilitarian building that works well with its military past.
