是一個常見「表達遺憾」的文法

例如：
I should have bought that book.
= 我應該要買那本書才對
(事實上我並沒有買那本書)

bought 是 buy 的 p.p.(過去分詞)
----------------------
加了 not 就變成
should not have + p.p.
變成「...真不應該...才對」

例如：
I should not have called Mary.
=我真不應該打電話給瑪麗
(事實上我已經打了)

called 是 call 的 p.p.(過去分詞)

take a leaf out of someone's book 是一個很口語的片語，在看影片時常會聽到這個實用的慣用語，它字面上的意思是「#從某人的書拿走一頁(葉子)」, 但當有人跟你說 I think I can take a leaf out of your book 時， 你可別回答「不行，這本書很貴」喔! :)

那到底這個慣用語是什麼意思呢？

a leaf 是「一片葉子」，在這兒指(書的)「一頁」。想像一下這本書是一本劇本，裡面是描述一個人成功的人生，當你從裡面拿走「一頁」，帶走一個人他人生中「部分的劇本」，你就是想學習演出他部分的人生，所以引申為「#以某人為榜樣」、「#效仿某人」或「#學某人的樣子」的意思，因為這樣會帶給你你好處!

知道這個慣用語的意思後，再來要練習造句, 這樣才會真的學會如何使用它!

(1) Lisa never gives up easily. She always tries her best to get things done. I should take a leaf out of her book. (Lisa 從不輕易放棄!她總是盡力完成事情。我應該要跟她學習才對!)

(2) Should I take a leaf out of Mary's book and start going to bed early every day? (我是否應該跟Mary多學學，開始每天早點睡呢？)

對話一：
A: What's wrong? You were late again.
(怎麼了? 你又遲到了。)
B: My car broke down. I need to get it fixed after work.
(我的車拋錨了。下班後我要找人修理。)
A: Do you need a ride to the mechanic?
(你要我載你去找修車師傅嗎?)

對話二：
A: What's wrong? You look upset?
(怎麼了？你看起來不太開心。)
B: I'm feeling sad because my friend moved away.
(我覺得傷心，因為我的朋友搬走了。)
A: I'm sorry to hear that. Do you want to talk about it?
(我很難過聽到這樣的事情。你想說說嗎?)

對話三：
A: What’s wrong with you? Why would you say that awful thing to her?
(你怎麼搞的? 你為什麼對她說這麼糟糕的話? )
B: B: She made me angry.
(她讓我生氣。)
A: You should apologize. She cried because of what you said.
(你應該要道歉。她因為你所說的話哭了。)
