【🎄 如何在腦內不要一直「中翻英」呢？🎄】

在台灣雖然有幾次的中英逐同步口譯經驗，但讓我印象最深刻的，還是從前不管是在台灣的 #唐獎 服務時、還是在 #日本聯合國教科文組織 服務時的「英日文」口譯經驗。

有人好奇問我：從日文翻成英文時，我是：
「#從日文想回中文、#再從中文出發去思考英文」嗎？

當然不是（那樣也太爆炸！）。尤其英文 (SVO) 跟日文 (SOV) 的語言結構相差很大，如果用很「貼字面」或「黏原文順序」的方式翻，肯定會很奇怪。

🔸 如果要避免講英文時「一直 #中翻英」，我建議大家用大單位的「語塊」來學習英文。

🔸「#語塊」對口說和寫作的功效實在太大，過去 30 年被做過很徹底的研究。有人叫 chunks、有人叫它 canned phrases (罐頭句)、有人叫它 formulaic expressions (公式化表達)、有人叫他 lexical bundles (詞串) 、有人叫它 word partnerships.

✔︎ 如果沒有各式各樣的語塊，腦內就容易一直中翻英嗎？

1️⃣ 你們吃過「馬修嚴選」的 Yogurt 嗎？如果「嚴選」二字用中文思考，必定會讓我們用成 strictly selected，但英文的搭配詞 carefully selected 是更直覺的用法，可以讓我們「凌駕於」中文思維（因為你可能怎樣都不會想到「小心選」）

2️⃣ 情急之下要講「我非常清楚了解、知道」，很容易不小心脫口而出 I very understand it. 嗎？用「句頭」語塊，我們就可以跳脫字面意涵由 It’s clear to me that… / I’m keenly aware of sth 這樣的語塊來表達。

・你也想要當要說「讓我很驚訝的是」，一秒說出 Much to my surprise, 嗎？

・ 你也想要當要說「我爸讓我開始打羽球的」，一秒說出 My dad got me into badminton. 嗎？（而不是 My dad made me start to play badminton）

・你也想要當要說「我們仍維持良好的關係」時，一秒說出 We remain on good terms. 嗎？（而不是 We still keep good relationship）
