    Hari ini, saya mengunjungi Kompleks Kastam, Imigresen & Kuarantin, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) untuk menerima taklimat dan memerhatikan Prosedur Operasi Standard (SOP) baharu yang akan dilaksanakan pada 17 Ogos 2020 sejajar dengan pembukaan semula sebahagian sempadan Johor-Singapura dengan penambahan skim PCA dan RGL.

    Semasa lawatan, saya mengemukakan beberapa kebimbangan mengenai pelaksanaan SOP ini dan pihak berkuasa berkaitan telah berjanji untuk menyelesaikannya sebelum sempadan dibuka semula. Saya juga telah menasihatkan Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia dan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia untuk menerbitkan garis panduan mudah dan jelas untuk individu yang ingin merentas sempadan ini di laman sesawang dan saluran media sosial mereka, terutama mereka yang tinggal di Johor dan Singapura.

    Saya mengambil berat tentang isu keselamatan rakyat Johor dan berharap agensi-agensi yang terlibat dapat melakukan persediaan yang terbaik dan rapi untuk mengekang wabak Covid19.

    I visited the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex, Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) today to hear a briefing and observe the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that will be in place on 17 August 2020 in conjunction with the partial reopening of the Johor-Singapore border with the additional PCA and RGL schemes.

    During the visit, I highlighted several concerns on the SOP implementation and the relevant authorities promised to resolve them before the reopening of the border. I also advised the Malaysian Immigration Department and the Malaysian Ministry of Health to publish simple and clear guidelines for individuals wishing to cross the border on their websites and social media platforms, especially for those living in Johor and Singapore.

    I am extremely concerned about the safety of Johoreans and hope all involved agencies will make the best and most detailed preparation to contain the Covid-19 outbreak.
