Dear Mr. President,

Hong Kong has been through quite a bit since the 1997 handover. Even so, we have largely managed to keep our basic freedoms and liberties intact.

The future of Hong Kong changed dramatically with the May 21st announcement by the Chinese Communist Party that the National People’s Congress (NPC) will bypass the Hong Kong legislative process, as laid out in the Sino-British Joint Declaration, and will impose new laws from Beijing covering political and national security matters. Our struggle has changed accordingly.

China’s Communist Party is now canceling Hong Kong’s high degree of autonomy and inserting Communist Party rule over Hong Kong. They have made their clear intent is to destroy Hong Kong’s most valuable asset, the rule of law.

Only through international pressure will the Chinese Communist Party ever reconsider this disastrous course of action. Without that pressure—and the active insistence of the United States—Hong Kong will change from a city operating under the “rule of law” to one operating under Beijing’s “rule by law.” This would be a tremendous loss for the world, including the United States, which has a tremendous investment in our city.

In Hong Kong today you are already respected as one of the few world leaders willing to confront China’s bad behavior. We now need both your public support and the diplomatic efforts of the United States to help keep our city a center of international trade and home for freedom.

Mr. President, please help us.

8/2 後記：

今天看到新聞，體育署決定撤換冰協秘書長吳奕德，並停止補助冰協一年。

事件到目前為止，仍有疑點未清。吳奕德仍未交代何謂他口中的「隱形國際壓力」，但他的確在一開始給大眾錯誤訊息，而中央社也在第一時間報導。中央社是我們的國家通訊社，這也是我當時請大家幫忙聲援的原因。

我們無法得知，這事件到底跟2022冬季奧運有沒有相關。我認為，吳奕德縱使被撤換，也應該跟大眾交代何謂「隱形國際壓力」。

原訂今年十月在台北小巨蛋舉辦的國際花式滑冰經典賽，昨天突然被取消了！國際滑冰總會（International Skating Union)的理由很荒謬：「因為國際情勢關係，台灣不適合舉辦」。

這真的太荒謬了！因為該賽事要改由香港協會主辦（比賽地點則改為中國東莞）。Hello? 香港現在街上充滿催淚瓦斯跟警棍，爆發流血衝突，黑道當街打人，這樣的「國際情勢」，比台灣更適合舉辦比賽？

這不是中共打壓，還能是什麼？！🤬

雖然教育部表示將會嚴正抗議，但身為歹丸郎的我們，還是可以一起努力讓國際社會聽到我們的聲音。

I am writing to express my deep regret on the recent decision by International Skating Union (ISU) regarding cancelling Taiwan as the host of 2019 Asian Open Figure Classic scheduled on October 30-November 3, 2019.

As you may know, Taiwan is a beacon of democracy and a free land for various sports. Many Taiwanese sports players are considered top athletes in international arena. Sports shall be apolitical as players deserve a free venue for fair competition.

Hence I strongly urge ISU to reconsider this aforementioned wrongful decision and demonstrate to the world that ISU still deserves its reputation of neutrality. Taiwan hosting the game would show to the world that skating is a sports of grace, not of politics.

Your attention to this message is sincerely appreciated. I look forward to your favorable response soon.

國泰抵不住中國的壓迫下把台灣Taiwan的名字給改了....

7/25 是中國給各家航空公司把台灣改成中國台灣的限期最後一天。

許多航空公司都低了頭，國泰航空也不例外全部網站的台灣改了名字，之後乘客選擇出發地TPE或是國籍都會出現的中國台灣。

雖然許多航空公司被受中國的壓力而將台灣改成中國台灣，但是日本航空、全日空的做法是把全部國家改成城市名，Taiwan改成了Taipei。有趣的是一開始日本航空把台灣改成中國台灣後引起日本內的輿論攻擊，一天內大轉折改成Taipei，發起抗議連署的是專門研究台日關係的永山英樹先生。他本人都很驚喜說日本的企業還是很有良心的。

希望國泰航空能參考日本航空的做法，不要矮化台灣。

2. Dear Cathay Pacific management,
The recent changes on the Cathay Pacific website has brought great disappointment. I strongly oppose Cathay Pacific's unnecessary and unacceptable decision to change from using the term "Taiwan" to "Taiwan China." I am a Taiwanese passenger and have always enjoyed and appreciated Cathay Pacific's professional service. This incident has left me unsatisfied. Cathay Pacific should maintain your professional and respectable reputation instead of being influenced by politics. I believe Cathay Pacific respects and values all of their passengers. This transition not only hurt Taiwanese passengers but everyone because anyone would be upset to be labeled a different name. On behalf of all Taiwanese passengers, we are proud to be part of Taiwan not Taiwan China. Please reconsider your decision and refer to how Japan Airline handle this issue. Thank you!
