Imagine a place where sapphire skies and turquoise waters meld into the rich days of an unending tropical summer. A place where the salty ocean air, mists through the leaves on the trees. ⁣

Here, you will make the unlikeliest of friends who call this place home — the reclusive proboscis monkeys, ever vigilant high above the forest canopy or the laid-back wild boars, frolicking by the beach. And your ears will feast on music that dips and soars with seemingly rhythmic beat; an orchestra led by the cicadas. Isn’t it amazing how nature has her way of inventing the most beautiful things?⁣

As you stare into the unending horizon of the South China Sea where the blue skies aswirl into violet, lavender and pink; and the day slowly turns to night, you find yourself staring into the vast expanse of space. Far away in the edges of the constellation, luminous stars flicker to life in the ocean of blackness. You heave a sigh of wonder. ⁣

Who knew that nestled within the serenity of Gaya Island in Sabah, tranquility and relaxation are never more than a breath away. This is what I imagine paradise to be. A dream within a dream, that I hope I could one day experience all over again. Here’s wishing it’ll come true...⁣

#MACC had its media screening yesterday in a cinema! What an overwhelming journey. Mid last year, Astro came to me looking for quick 15 min programs but I ended up pitching them 6 episodes of an English comedy series & the #MACCManiaX Goodbye Tour comedy special.

'English content' is something of a weird topic in Malaysia. Kopitiam— made 20 years ago is often the most remembered. Soon after, 'American English content' which was made with 1000x the budget came in by the barrels. Our 'English content' was relegated to 'local English content' and was afforded much less in terms of financing, press coverage, or simply just development time. But this can change.

The demand for local English content have persisted over the years because being able to relate to a character in a show in a meaningful way like: "They speak like me!" "She's just like my Mum!" is important for any society. Young (and old) content creators found home on the internet while the TV-sphere remained not dissimilar than it was 20 years ago. But this can change.

I acknowledge the trust that Astro had placed in me, a first time filmmaker creating his own 'local English content' for the modern day. They financed the show & organized a media screening. For this I am grateful. Let's be honest, this was a counter-intuitive move on their part. I'm hardly the most famous comedian, or have the most followers, or even enjoy social media engagement. I'm a reclusive creative bum LOL. I just had an idea.

MACC was that idea. I'm proud of what I've done with the series but I'm proudest that this exists & is available on a local network. My hope is that this show ignites & reignites the passion of fellow writers/directors to continue pitching your stories on local networks. If my show is good, talk about it. If it isn't very good, do better than me. This is how an industry is built!

I suffered from depression and never noticed it. It became my new ‘normal’ and it lasted for 4 years. In those years, I was my most reclusive, had immense self-doubt, and in denial. Looking back, I would not and could not feel anything— good or bad which I have learnt today is an indicator. What helped me recover was quite honestly mental health awareness. Be it from a friend, family, or even from yourself. I learnt to identify my behaviour which helped me remedy them.

Since the video went live I have received so many messages! Probably the most I have ever gotten out of IG haha. I did not expect this and I honestly thank each and every one of you. I read them all. All your messages, <3s, and just support has inspired me. I now want to work towards a show that engages in mental health awareness.

I believe mental health awareness is important so that when we are there for our friends or ourselves, we are there, the correct way. We take for granted that people who live below the poverty line do not mind their plight being published. But Malaysiakini stubbles upon on such family who just wants to be left alone.

There will be no peace for L Ayalandum and her mother G Anjalay. Although close to destitute, living in a shack they call home that was almost blown away by a heavy thunderstorm, all that they want is to be left alone.

Ayalandum needs to work to earn her RM30.0 to RM40.00 a day tying flower garlands at various Hindu temples. But the constant media attention ever since their plight was featured and the many 'good samaritans' coming offering help, have caused them much despair. She cannot afford to be late for work too frequently to attend to these visits.

Her mother, has become more reclusive as media attention also brings along the unwanted attention of neighbourhood children who steal things from their shack, apparently just for the hell of it.

MIC Youth have come to their aid. They say that a proper roof will be constructed for the shack. An NGO is giving them food assistance.

For Ayalandum and her mother Anjalay there have been too many promises. They will appreciate help and to be left alone.

If we were to give our voice to their predicament, we'd copy Nike's slogan -- 'Just Do It'.
