這次課程中，
我們學到了marsupial有袋類動物，
例如袋鼠 #俐媽英文教室袋鼠篇
也學到了pouch 育兒袋，以及它的其他兩個定義。

俐媽想介紹一個和動物有關、又和pouch相似的單字。

❌ poach (v.) 盜獵；盜捕；盜採；盜砍 ❌

盜獵者(poacher)往往為一己之私(selfishness)而盜獵(poach)動物，

利用射殺(shooting)、毒害(poisoning)、網攔捕捉(netting)、放餌(baiting/decoying)、設陷阱(trapping)等方式傷害動物，

以取得牠們的肉(flesh/meat)、皮草(fur)、獸皮(hide)、羽毛🪶(feather)、魚鰭(fin)、內臟器官(body organ)、角(horn)、牙(如tusk 象牙)⋯，

利用動物標本剝製術(taxidermy)製作成標本(specimen)成為戰利品(trophy)，

或單純享受征服(conquest)、殺戮(slaughter)的快感，

或走私(smuggle)、於黑市(black market)非法買賣(traffic)之後謀利。

這樣的行為違反良知(conscience)，
是一種犯罪(crime)，
也破壞環境資源的永續性(sustainability)，
危害/威脅(jeopardize/threaten)生物多樣性(biodiversity)。

因為盜獵，許多瀕危物種(endangered species)身處困境(plight)。
大家一起反盜獵(anti-poaching)!💪🏻💪🏻

夏天消暑吃小黃瓜就對了！美國生活用語：蔬菜之小黃瓜篇🥒

Everybody knows that eating vegetables is good for your health. But did you know that learning vegetable idioms is good for your English? Yes, it’s true. It must be all those vitamins and minerals.
每個人都知道吃蔬菜有益健康，不過你知道嗎？學習蔬菜諺語也有益提升英語程度！沒錯，這是真的！一定是因為它們富含維他命跟礦物質的緣故。

Cucumbers are one of the most refreshing vegetables. They’re 95% water, so they can help keep you cool and hydrated on a hot summer day. But what does it mean if you say a person is 1⃣ “cool as a cucumber”? It means they are calm and relaxed, even when faced with a stressful situation. Ex: Michael was cool as a cucumber during his job interview.
小黃瓜算是最爽口的蔬菜了。小黃瓜有95％是水，所以可以幫助人們在炎炎夏日保持清涼、補充水份。不過如果你說一個人cool as a cucumber是什麼意思呢？這個片語是在形容一個人即使處在壓力之下，依然冷靜又放鬆。如：Michael was cool as a cucumber during his job interview. （麥可在工作面試上依然冷靜。）

What happens when you preserve a cucumber in brine or vinegar? It becomes a pickle. In addition to being a tasty snack, a 2⃣ pickle can also be a plight or predicament. Ex: You’ve really gotten yourself in a pickle this time, haven’t you? Pickle can also be a verb, and “pickled,” aside from meaning “preserved in brine or vinegar,” can also mean “drunk.” Did the boss get pickled at the office party again?
如果你把小黃瓜保存在鹽水或醋裡頭會變怎樣？小黃瓜就會變成醃黃瓜。除了可以拿來當零嘴吃，pickle也可以指「窘境，尷尬的情況」，如：You’ve really gotten yourself in a pickle this time, haven’t you?（是你讓你自己深陷窘境之中，不是嗎？）pickle也可以當動詞，所以pickled除了原本指「用鹽水或醋醃的」，也可以說「喝得醉醺醺的」，如：Did the boss get pickled at the office party again?（老闆又在辦公室派對上喝醉了嗎？）

2014年6月26日（木）、東京都渋谷区のウガンダ大使館前で行われた、ウガンダの「反同性愛法」反対抗議の映像です。
A protest took place on June 26th on the Embassy of Uganda in Japan against the Anti-Homosexuality Law in Uganda.

Letter to Her Excellency Ambassador Betty Grace Akech -- Okullo,

大使さま
Your Excellency,

私たちは今日、ウガンダのムセヴェニ大統領によって法制化された反同性愛法のヘイトに対して抗議するため、ここに立っています。グローバルコミュニティの市民による世界的な抗議は、同性愛者を終身刑に処し、同性愛者を報告しなかった者を7年ものあいだ収監する同法が、まったく受け入れ難いものであることを明らかにしました。私たちは、市民の仲間として、ウガンダの人々と東京に住んでいることを心から喜んでおり、だからこそ、この非人間的な法制への抗議を続けなければならないのです。
We stand here today in protest against the Anti-Gay Hate Law enacted by the President Mseveni of Uganda. The protests worldwide by the citizens of global community have made clear that the law which sentences homosexual persons to life-in-prison and puts anyone who fails to report them in jail for 7 years is utterly inacceptable. It is precisely because we rejoice in having Ugandans among us in the citizenry of Tokyo that we must continue to protest this inhumane legislation.

ウガンダの外務大臣であるサム・クテサ氏が国連総会議長に任命された最近の出来事は、人間社会の基本原則の侵害を拒否する私たちの意思をいささかも減じるものではありません。この基本原則とは、ジェンダー、性的志向、人種、身体的能力、あるいは他の属性に関わらず、すべての人が有する尊厳に対する平等な尊重にほかなりません。これらの属性は、何人も変えることが出来ず、変えさせられるべきでもないものです。
The recent appointment of Mr. Sam Kutesa, the foreign minister of Uganda, to the president of the United Nations's General Assembly will in no way diminish our refusal to accept violation of the basic principles of humanity, which is respect for the equal dignity of all persons regardless of gender, sexual orientations, race, physical capacities and any other characteristics that a person cannot and should not be forced to change.

大使さまは、反同性愛法によってムセヴェニ大統領とサム・クテサ外務大臣が引き起こした世界的な憤りが、東京でも同様に強いことを、彼らに伝えてくださらなければなりません。そして、この法律が撤回されるまで、私たちの抗議が止むことも、私たちがウガンダの同性愛者の窮状を無視することもないという事実を、伝えてくださらなければなりません。
Your Excellency Ms. Ambassador, you must tell President Mseveni and Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa that the global outrage they have caused by the Anti-Gay Law is no less strong in Tokyo, and that our protest will not cease nor will we ignore the plight of gay people in Uganda until the law is repealed.
