Kazunori Yamauchi ผู้ให้กำเนิดและกำกับเกมตระกูล Gran Turismo ได้ให้สัมภาษณ์กับ Eurogamer แล้วได้มีการเปิดเผยรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมว่าทำไม Gran Turismo 7 จึงจำเป็นต้องออนไลน์ตลอดเวลา เหมือนเกม GT Sport ใน PlayStation 4

Yamauchi เผยว่า Gran Turismo 7 จะมีฟีเจอร์การอัปเดตที่ช่วยให้ตัวเกมสามารถเพิ่มคอนเทนต์ใหม่หรือแก้บั๊กได้ตลอดเวลา และรวดเร็วกว่าเดิม รวมถึงอีกสาเหตุหลักคือ ก็เพื่อไม่ให้มีการโกงเกิดขึ้นในเกม

"สาเหตุที่เราต้องการให้ตัวเกมออนไลน์ตลอดเวลา ก็เพื่อป้องกันการโกงไม่ให้เกิดขึ้นในเกมอย่างเช่นการดัดแปลงไฟล์เซฟ เปลี่ยนข้อมูล รวมถึงก็เพื่อให้เกมพร้อมอัปเดตได้ตลอดเวลา"

แม้ Yamauchi ยังไม่ได้ให้รายละเอียดว่าโหมด Career จะมีตัวเลือกเพื่อเปิดช่องทางให้สามารถเล่นเกมแบบออฟไลน์ได้หรือไม่ แต่เขายืนยันว่าโหมด Arcade ยังสามารถเข้าถึงได้โดยไม่ต้องเชื่อมต่ออินเทอร์เน็ตเหมือนเกม GT Sport

"เพราะ [โหมด Arcade] ไม่ได้มีการเรียกใช้ข้อมูลเซฟ ดังนั้นฟีเจอร์ทั้งหมดที่ต้องใช้ข้อมูลดังกล่าว มีความจำเป็นต้องเชื่อมต่ออินเทอร์เน็ตในการดาวน์โหลด อย่างเช่น ข้อมูลลายรถยนต์ เป็นสิ่งที่ดาวน์โหลดจากเซิร์ฟเวอร์ออนไลน์ครับ" - Kazunori Yamauchi กล่าว
