[英文單字學習] 最近一直在網路上看到Netspeak的免費的線上搜尋辭典: http://www.thenewslens.com/post/238346

雖然這搜尋辭典感覺上使用起來很方便，但是建議同學還是要用其他資源查詢，線上搜尋到的句子與用法不一定是正確的 (e.g. learn knowledge 這樣的用法在Netspeak 搜尋到的頻率也不低，可是正確用法卻是 acquire knowledge) 。

以學術語料庫來說，老師還是強烈的推薦美國當代英語語料庫COCA! 建議同學搜尋到自己想要的單字片語之後，再用COCA查詢在當代英文的出版品會出現的用法。

[英文單字學習 II]

由於受到母語干擾，外語學習者經常出現錯誤使用搭配詞的問題。而「中式英文 Chinglish」就是使用中文結構認知外界事物，像是中文的「做研究」，常被誤認是「make research」，但正確用法應為「conduct/do research」。從文法來看，有時中式英文雖然沒有錯誤，總是不符母語人士使用習慣。

要避免這類問題，建議同學們多使用語料庫，從大量的文本中搜尋可用的搭配詞。最推薦的就是美國當代英語語料庫 (Corpus of Contemporary American English，COCA)，當中詞彙量龐大，還會標示動詞、名詞等詞性，非常好用。

美國當代英語語料庫 (http://corpus.byu.edu/coca/) 是由美國楊伯翰大學 Mark Davies 教授開發的，囊括了4.5億詞彙。它是美國目前最新的當代英語語料庫，同時也是當今世界上最大的英語平衡語料庫。

COCA 的介面主要是為語言學家和語言學習者瞭解單詞、短語以及句子結構的頻率及進行相關資訊比較而設計，而詞頻資料幾乎就是用事實說話的一個體現。因此，它是最佳的英語學習助手，也是英語教師最好的教學資源之一。

◆查單詞：直接輸入。如：spend, bulk, need, friendly, obviously, however, acquire knowledge 等；

對於具有不同詞性的單詞，可帶上相應的標籤。如 welcome 一詞：
-若查名詞用法，可輸入welcome.[NN1]
-若查形容詞用法，可輸入welcome.[JJ]
-若查動詞用法，可輸入welcome.[VV0]

◆查短語：直接輸入 如：give in, turn up, over there, go ahead 等。

◆查句子：直接輸入 如：How do you do?

◆查首碼：可借助萬用字元*，如輸入dis*，be*，im* 等等。

◆查尾碼：可借助萬用字元*，如輸入*less，*or，*ly 等等。若想查找以ly結尾的形容詞，輸入“*ly.[jj]”。

◆查詞根：可借助萬用字元*，如輸入re*er，dis*able 等等。

◆查具有相同字母的某些單詞：可借助萬用字元*，如輸入 interes*，teste* 等等。

◆查同義詞：可借助方括號和等號，如輸入[=give]，[=clear]，[=drive]，[=angry] 等等。

◆比較同義詞：可點擊 COMPARE→WORDS，然後在 WORD(S) 輸入同義詞比較的同義詞。

◆查搭配：比如若想查看 invent 後接的名詞，輸入invent，然後 POS LIST 對話方塊選擇 noun.All。

◆注意1：預設顯示100個單詞，想顯示更多單詞，可以點擊左下角的 click to see options 並修改 FREQ 中的數字即可。

◆注意2：一天要搜尋超過十幾次的話需要註冊，但是通通都是免費的。請同學多加利用！

<口說練習！二擇一選擇"30歲前還後結婚呢?">
喬這周在口說課程中學習到二選一的口說技巧，所以今天要分享的是自己在課程中學習到的心得以及放上自己練習"Do you prefer getting married after or before 30?”的練習聲檔。喬現在每天也會練習托福口說題目，因為要在15秒準備時間內回答45秒的確是有難度，這跟生活中對談完全不一樣，其實練習到後期最大的困難在於「想法缺乏」以致於無法回答45秒。這跟寫作一樣，缺乏可以舉出的例子其實反而是完成一篇文章的阻礙，尤其是時間非常短暫，所以練習真的很重要。英文好的人不一定可在短暫時間內交出一篇好的作品，唯有練習才能盡可能讓自己磨練出短時間內完成一篇作品的能力。

【邏輯】
在托福口說課程中，喬從活潑的老師身上學習到一個口說的邏輯如下：
(1) 當題目給兩個選擇，立刻選擇一個立場
(2) 提示讀者自己有幾個支持自己論點的說法
(3) 第一個支持說法(開頭Obviously/ Apparently)
(4) 第二個支持說法(開頭Besides/ In addition/ What’s more/ Additionally)
(5) 第三個支持說法(開頭Also/ Plus)
(6) 再次強調自己一定會選擇這個立場站(All in all /Consequently/ In brief)

【口稿】
(1) It seems to me getting married after 30 is preferable.
(As far as I am concerned, I prefer getting married after 30.)
(2) There are quite a few reasons to support what I’ve just said.
(3) Apparently, young couple with solid income is capable of supporting the whole family without burden.
(4) What’s more, with the advancement of technology, modern people no longer need to worry about giving birth to unhealthy babies even after the age of 40.
(5) Also, according to a study done by National Tsing Hua University, those getting married after 30 tend to have mature attitude towards life, and thus the divorce rate is lower, resulting in less social problems.
(6) All in all, I think getting married after 30 is definitely a better choice.

Cai Jie-Shen, one of the new-generation artists wants to promote the life of “art”, meaning to increase the amount of participation of visitors in his masterpieces. In the busy city, what kind of things can make us stop and breathe? And relax the highly stressed souls in all of us? What kind of places can allow you and me to relax our eyes and feelings? Perhaps it is here, in the arms of art!
台灣藝術家蔡潔莘創造了這個主角”擁抱”，要讓大家知道藝術不僅是遠觀不可觸碰的，鼓勵大家每天張開雙臂擁抱彼此。在現代人忙碌的生活中，什麼能讓你停下腳步放鬆充電，也許答案就是用雙手擁抱藝術。

I was asked to make Hug bento box for the Very Fun Park’s 10th Anniversary. Since it is a meaningful exhibition, I decide to participate as an artist with my creative bento.
今年是粉樂町當代藝術展的十周年，主辦單位邀請我設計可愛的便當，我覺得這個展覽很有­意義，決定以藝術便當參展。

Hug is created in 2009, so obviously not Baymax, but of course you can use this Bento idea to create your own Bento lunch box ;)
擁抱是2009年創作的藝術品，所以他不是動畫人物”杯麵”，但你也可以用同樣的概念設計你自己的便當。

Directions:
1. Flavor the rice with a pinch of salt.
在白飯中加入少許鹽調味
2. Place lettuce in the Bento box. Form the rice into Hug shape using plastic wrap and put into the Bento box.
把萵苣和塑型完成的”擁抱飯糰”放入便當盒
3. Cut sausage diagonally and join the cut sides reversely to make a heart shape. Let Hug hug the heart.
將熱狗兩端斜切後拼成愛心形狀，讓”擁抱”抱住愛心
4. Put side dishes in the Bento box to finish.
將其他配菜放入便當就完成了
