The first Sikhs(Indian) arrived in Hong Kong in 1841 and formed part of the British forces present at the ceremony proclaiming Hong Kong a British colony at Possession Point. There were 2,700 Indian troops were present at the flag raising ceremony according to a book by K.N. Vaid (HK University) and note No.41 of the article by Caroline Pluss, therefore the Indians was once a majority in Hong Kong in 1841. The Police Force was established in 1844 with 35 British and Sikhs policemen. In 1867, 100 more Sikhs was recruited from Punjab on the request of the Governor of Hong Kong to serve in the Police force. A few thousand Sikhs moved to Hong Kong during the years 1867 to 1930 as members of the British Indian Army or came to serve as policemen, civil servants, security personnel and other posts. By 1930 there were over 7,000 Indians, most of them Sikhs, in Hong Kong. In 1960 the estimated number had increased to around 20,000 Indians. In 2000 the estimated number of Indians was 30,000 and about 10,000 of them were Sikhs.Hong Kong’s non-Chinese ethnic minorities form a vibrant and colourful community comprising both new immigrants and those who have lived in the city for generations.

推動平等機會和社會共融是我其中一個主要政綱。根據 2011 年香港人口普查，香港有 451,183 非華裔人士，相當於香港總人口 6.4%。
非華裔人士也是香港人，我們有責任幫助他們融入社會。

我倡議：
1.把「少數族裔」政策改稱為「非華裔」政策；
2. 把給非華語學生的「中國語文課程第二語言學習架構」從中小學擴展至學前教育

I am pushing for equal opportunities and social inclusion as one of my main policy goals.
According to the 2011 Hong Kong Population Census, Hong Kong houses 451,183 non-ethnic Chinese, making up 6.4% of our total population. Non-ethnic Chinese are Hong Kongers, and so we have the responsibility to ensure they are integrated into society. I propose:

1. Renaming ‘ethnic minority’ policies to ‘non-ethnic Chinese’ policies, so as to reduce stigmatisation;
2. Extending ‘Chinese as a second language’ education (currently available for primary schools only) for non-native Chinese speaking students to kindergartens and nurseries
