It''s not easy being a girl. Society constantly reminds you how you're expected to look. If you've got a certain body shape that is not accepted in your culture, you will be met with criticisms and that lowers your confidence and self worth. If you're blessed with boobs and you wear v-necks, you'll be perceived as a slut. If you're flat chested, you'll also feel inadequate. If you're tanned, you will be told to stop suntanning so much. If you're pale, you might be told you look like a zombie. There is no winning. I've struggled, and am constantly battling to try and be comfortable in my own skin. This is me, I've got a round face, I am blessed with curves, but I store fat in my torso. I like to eat so I get rounder at times. I like V necks because I have a shorter neck. I love the feeling of being sunkissed. But that's me! There will always be critics. Remind yourself that you're enough, and you're beautiful the way you are. Work hard, and rock on! 🤘🤘💪 #allpositivevibes #girlpower #strongisthenewsexy #fitness #motivation #quote #positive #inspiration #girls #strong #bali #travel #beyourself #strongwomen

At Saturday's rally, we observed an 8 minute and 46 second moment of silence. That's how long it took for a white police officer to kneel on the neck of George Floyd, resulting in his death. I cannot imagine watching this news and being black. Surely, you would begin to think that many people in America do not think that black lives matter?
Does saying #BlackLivesMatter mean you don't care about other lives? No. We say it because many people still don't believe it.
So why hold a solidarity rally in Taiwan in support of BLM? Two of the organizers -- Toi Windham and Stefanie Davis -- told me that it's to show support for the movement in America. But Taiwan has much to learn, too. Just this last week, we saw a popular group of YouTubers (over a million fans!) put on black face even after they were told it was offensive. This is not the first time, and it probably won't be the last.
As a white dude, I often think the best policy is to say less, and LISTEN more. So please join me in listening to Toi and Stefanie, as they share their experiences.
Much gratitude to the entire Black Lives Global Solidarity Initiative in Taiwan, and to the wonderful photographs provided to them by Jamie MacGregor and Sofia Kuan.

→ Derek Chauvin charge upgraded to second-degree murder; other officers charged
https://bit.ly/2zR3HEp
「Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) has upgraded the charge against Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who knelt on George Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes shortly before Floyd died, to second-degree murder.
Ellison also charged Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane — the other officers who were at the scene of Floyd's death — with aiding and abetting second-degree murder Wednesday afternoon at a press conference.」

The Times has reconstructed the death of George Floyd on May 25. Security footage, witness videos and official documents show how a series of actions by officers turned fatal.
By combining videos from bystanders and security cameras, reviewing official documents and consulting experts, The New York Times reconstructed in detail the minutes leading to Mr. Floyd’s death. Our video shows officers taking a series of actions that violated the policies of the Minneapolis Police Department and turned fatal, leaving Mr. Floyd unable to breathe, even as he and onlookers called out for help.
The day after Mr. Floyd’s death, the Police Department fired all four of the officers involved in the episode, and on Friday the Hennepin County attorney, Mike Freeman, announced murder and manslaughter charges against Derek Chauvin, the officer who can be seen most clearly in witness videos pinning Mr. Floyd to the ground. Mr. Chauvin, who is white, kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, according to the criminal complaint against him. Our video shows that Mr. Chauvin did not remove his knee even after Mr. Floyd lost consciousness, and for a full minute after paramedics arrived at the scene.
The three other former officers, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao — all of whom can be seen in our video participating in Mr. Floyd’s arrest — remain under investigation.
