Liferafts แพกู้ภัยที่ไม่ธรรมดา

เวลาไปอยู่บนเรือใหญ่ๆ เราน่าจะเคยสังเกตเห็นการบ้างนะครับ ว่าของหน้าตาแบบในรูปมันมีไว้ทำอะไร แล้วข้างในมันมีอะไรบ้าง มาทำความรู้จักกันครับ

สิ่งของชิ้นนี้เรียกว่า Liferafts เป็นแพฉุกเฉินที่มีอุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการเอาตัวรอดกลางทะเลเพื่อรอให้ทีมค้นหามาช่วย โดยเจ้า Liferafts จะถูกอัดอยู่ในชุดเก็บความดันสูง (fiberglass) ซึ่งมักจะตั้งอยู่ตามจุดรวมพลของเรือหรือแท่นนั้นๆ (เรียกว่า Muster station)

ตัว Liferafts อันนี้จะมีตัว Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) ที่จะเป็นตัวส่งสัญญาณปล่อยตัวชุดเก็บออกเพื่อให้แพกลางออกได้อัตโมนัติ เมื่อตัวนี้สัมผัสกับน้ำทะเล เช่น กรณีเรือจม หรือ เราจะสามารถปลดตัวนี้ได้ด้วยตนเองก็ได้เช่นกัน โดยจะออกแบบให้ใช้งานได้ง่ายที่สุด

โดย Liferaft มาตรฐานจะออกแบบไว้สำหรับสมาชิกไม่เกิน 12 คน และอุปกรณืที่อยู่ใน liferafts ที่พร้อมใช้งานได้ทันที จะมีดังนี้โดยประมาณ อ้างอิงตามมาตรฐาน Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) โดยหลังจากที่กางแล้วจะต้องลอยอยู่กลางทะเลได้ไม่น้อยกว่า 30 วัน (ก่อนที่ลมจะค่อยๆเล็ดลอดออกไปจนฟีบลง)

• ไม้พายที่ลอยน้ำได้ (buoyant paddles) 2 อัน
• สมอทะเล (Sea anchors) 1 คู่ สมอทะเลไม่ใช่แบบที่ปักลงไปบนพื้นนะครับ แต่จะเป็นอุปกรณ์ที่เอาไว้ลดการเคลื่อนที่ของแพให้มากที่สุดโดยจะปล่อยลอยทะเล
• อุปกรณ์สำหรับเปิดวัสดุที่เป็นดีบุก เช่น อาหารกระป๋อง
• กรรไกร 1 คู่
• ชุดปฐมพยาบาลกันน้ำ 1 ชุด
• นกหวีด 1 อัน
• ไฟฉายกันน้ำสำหรับการส่งรหัสมอร์สพร้อมแบตเตอรี่สำรอง 1 ชุด
• กระจกไว้สำหรับสะท้อนแสงหรือสัญญาณ 1 ชุด
• ที่สะท้อนสัญญาณเรดาร์ 1 อัน (Radar reflector)
• แผ่นแนะนำวิธีการส่งสัญญาณขอความช่วยเหลือกันน้ำ 1 แผ่น
• เบ็ดตกปลา 1 ชุด
• น้ำเปล่า 1.5 ลิตร / ต่อ คน ไว้ให้ดื่มวันละ 500 ซีซี ต่อวัน ก็จะเป็นเรื่องต่อเนื่องจากที่ว่า เพราะว่าเราไม่สามารถกินน้ำทะเล แทนน้ำเปล่าได้นั่นเองครับ
• อาหารพลังงานสูง 2400 kcal ไว้แบ่งทานต่อคน คนเราอดข้าวได้นานโดยที่ไม่ตาย แต่อดน้ำได้ไม่นานก็ตายแล้วครับ
• ภาชนะใส่น้ำกันสนิม 1 อัน
• คู่มือการเอาตัวรอด (Survival booklet)
• ไฟสัญญาณ (Hand flare) 6 อัน
• ไฟสัญญาณแบบยิงขึ้นฟ้า (Rocket Parachute Flares) 4 อัน
• ทุ่นลอยน้ำส่งสัญญาณควันได้ (Buoyant Smoke Signals) 2 อัน

โดยคนที่มาทำงานในทะเล จะได้รู้จัก Liferafts จริงๆตั้งแต่ตอนที่เราเรียน Basic offshore ซึ่งเป็นหลักสูตรที่ทุกคนต้องผ่านก่อนลงทะเล

จะเห็นได้เลยครับเรียกว่าไม่ธรรมดาสำหรับแพช่วยชีวิตที่ถูกอัดความดันอยู่ในบรรจุภัณฑ์เล็กๆ มองของนอกอาจจะคิดไม่ถึงว่ามันสามารถทำหน้าที่ได้ถึงขนาดนี้ครับ คราวหน้าเผื่อเห็นเจ้า Liferafts ได้มีไอเดียว่ามันทำงานได้อย่างไรบ้างครับ

The people I’ve met 😳

Thanks to my dad being a part of the rugby community, I grew up meeting and hanging out with people I look up to. It’s not something I’ve ever been too fussed about 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t know why, but some of my interactions in the states have been different... and fucking inspiring.

I went to train @the_dragons_lair for 2 reasons:
1) I knew both my favourite bodybuilders of all time might be around.
2) I wanted the feeling of training in a facility filled with greatness again.

1) By chance, both @jaycutler & @flex_lewis were there 😱 Dont ask why I didn’t get a proper selfie with both of them 🤦🏻‍♂️ They’re just so fucking enormous that it took about half an hour to muster up the bollocks to say Hi to Jay (and I needed the urgency of him leaving to do so) and then to catch James. I couldn’t have expected to spend 20mins talking shop & him telling me about what he’s had to put into his career to get him to where he is now. From our Welsh heritage to working multiple jobs to make things work, the similarities were an inspiring push to keep at it... and he dropped a few gems of advice about priorities in there too 💎

2) When I lived in Swansea for a few years I trained at Burns Gym. It was owned by John Burns who competed in the ‘76 & ‘80 Olympics Weightlifting and all the biggest bastards in Swansea trained there🏋🏻‍♂️ Sometimes the GB powerlifting team would come in to train.

I was 6ft tall & 67kg - the skinniest dude in the whole gym when I started there with my first proper gym membership. It was a half an hour walk from my apartment (often in the rain) and I was shy every time I stepped foot in it... but I did it because I knew what a difference it made surrounding yourself with the best.

This was the closest I’ve been to being in a gym with that feeling. Guys (and girls! 💪🏽 There was none in Burns) pushing their limits, and everyone had wild physiques 🤯

For context, I’m now 85kg and 10% body fat... and James makes me look like a twig 😂 It’s easy to get complacent comparing yourself to yourself.

Barca vs Arsenal 2-1 Highlights & Goals - Joan Gamper Trophy 2019

Barcelona 2-1 Arsenal: Maitland-Niles commits howler as Suarez nets winner
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Arsenal ahead but an Ainsley Maitland-Niles own goal helped Barcelona bounce back in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles had a night to forget as his own goal and a Luis Suarez volley helped Barcelona to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looked to have teed himself and the Gunners up for the new Premier League season in style with a fine first-half goal but Barcelona pressed in search of an error that eventually arrived when Maitland-Niles put through his own net.

It was a cruel moment for the 21-year-old in front of a huge Camp Nou crowd and Arsenal boss Unai Emery could have done without having his defender's confidence dented with a Premier League season opener against Newcastle United just six days away.
There were positives for Emery to take from the game, not least the return to action of Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac after they were caught up in an apparent carjacking attempt, but Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde will have been the happier coach at the final whistle after seeing Suarez fire a late winner.

The Blaugrauna dominated for long spells, with the midfield trio of Frenkie de Jong, Ivan Rakitic and Riqui Puig implementing Valverde's possession-based style impeccably in the absence of Lionel Messi, and the Spanish champions' patience paid off.
Maitland-Niles started positively, making inroads in possession on the Arsenal right, but he was static as Jordi Alba drifted past him before hitting a rising drive that Leno saved at head height.

Arsenal went ahead 10 minutes before the break when Ozil's incisive pass found Aubameyang with his back to goal but the striker turned Alba with an elegant piece of skill before stroking a fine finish that beat Neto to his left.

Rakitic sold Joe Willock a marvellous dummy and played Antoine Griezmann in for a sublime dink over Leno, but the offside flag was raised and the first half ended with Arsenal ahead.

Ousmane Dembele blasted wide from the edge of the box early in the second half and Willock cleared a Jordi Alba effort off the line before Maitland-Niles' nightmare moment arrived.

The 21-year-old received a loose ball in his own box and tried to play a simple back-pass to Leno but over-hit it to the goalkeeper's left, and neither Leno nor Sokratis Papastathopoulos could backpedal quick enough to keep it from trickling into the net.

Gabriel Martinelli volleyed wide as Arsenal tried to muster a response but Suarez, on as a second-half substitute, timed his run perfectly and met Sergi Roberto's floated pass with a flying volley beyond Leno shortly before the final whistle.
