美國當地時間3月27日午夜，Bob Dylan發佈長達17分鐘的新歌《最卑鄙的謀殺》，以長篇歌詞敘述了1960年代的流行文化事件、甘迺迪總統刺殺案和反文化運動。
這首新歌被紐約時報稱為「史詩級的散文詩」，歌詞引用大量歷史文獻。
歌詞以甘迺迪被刺殺為開頭，將刺殺後所引發的音樂、藝術和文化等重大事件編織一起。
一些評論家認為鮑勃·迪倫借此新歌，重新審視20世紀60年代後的流行文化，當然也有些評論者認為他在此刻創作這首非比尋常的史詩級歌曲，談的是疫情襲擊下世界、國家、人民之間的距離和交織。
新歌名稱取材於莎士比亞《哈姆雷特》中的語句：「最卑鄙的謀殺」。
1997年，鮑勃·迪倫曾創作過一首長達16分鐘的歌曲《高地》（Highlands），收錄在專輯《Time Of Mind》之中。在專輯製作時，唱片公司負責人問迪倫：「有精簡版嗎？」鮑勃·迪倫回答說：「這就是精簡版。」《高地》的時長為16分31秒，而今這首《最卑鄙的謀殺》時長為16分56秒.

Bob Dylan 長期的合作夥伴音樂家Trapper Schoepp 對此首歌曲的感想：這首歌所透露的歷史和背景，對比當下世界所發生的事情，你就能夠看到一位純粹的鮑勃·迪倫——借助往昔的重大文化事件，對當下正在發生的重大文化事件發表自己的觀點：「對於迪倫這一代人來說，甘迺迪被刺事件震蕩了他們的時代。對於我們這一代人來說，疫情和川普總統任職是決定性時刻。」
甘迺迪被刺殺所引發的社會震蕩，如巨石砸碎了美國的擋風玻璃一樣，真相浮現了，美國不是一個人人自由的國家，所謂人權只有白人。對鮑勃·迪倫自己的人生也具備劃時代的意義。在甘迺迪被刺殺之前，他創作了大量的抗議歌曲；在此之後，他離開了抗議的舞台。可能，也看破了。

「Play ‘Please, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ 」
*《Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood》是美國歌手妮娜·西蒙（Nina Simone）在1964年創作的一首歌。第二年，英國著名搖滾樂隊The Animals改編為布魯斯搖滾版進行翻唱。在錄制完這首歌不久後，The Animals樂隊的鍵盤手Alan Price離開了樂隊組合。
