Why do we only appreciate where we grew up when we finally grow up? I didn’t know how lucky I was to live right by the beach. Miles of wide open sand and a beautiful space to walk along yet I used to take my dog out to the end of the road, wait for her to relieve herself then walk straight back home. 😂 Now that I don’t live right next to the coast I make way more of an effort to fit in beach days. I grew up in Marske-by-the-Sea which is the village just along the beach from here. Not much comes up when you Google it except that we have this weird museum called ‘Winkie’s Castle featuring a two-headed lamb called Bill and Ben. I wouldn’t suggest making the trip for that reason 😆 but if you are looking for a new coastal area to explore in the North East then try this area for a change.. oh and don’t forget to try a lemon top ice cream in Redcar if you do 🍋🍦

Despite having this account for over three years now, I’ve never actually introduced myself! 🙈 So here goes... I am from Teesside in the north east of England - a small village on the coast called Marske. My mum now lives in Saltburn (pictured) which is the town next door. 🇬🇧 My dad is Turkish, hence why you will see Istanbul referenced quite a bit on here. 🇹🇷 My day job is in education which I like to keep off the ‘gram, and I am currently doing a PhD.
