Total Ion Chromatogram
If all the signal intensities (all mass peaks) for one scan are added together,
one obtains the total ion current. The total ion current reduces the two
dimensional mass spectral data to one signal: the total ion signal collected
during a given scan. Plotting the total ion current against time (or
scan number) gives the Total Ion Chromatogram (TIC). When a data file is
loaded into memory using the Data Analysis module, the TIC is drawn to the
screen. Note that the TIC resembles any other chromatogram; it is detector
signal vs. time. By displaying data as a TIC, the mass spectrometer is used
as a general detector; there is no selectivity in the data.

大概意思是TIC是 total ion current對retention time的圖譜，total ion current
得到的方式是所有的MASS peak加在一起所得到的電流，簡單來說MS在這只是單純的偵測
器，如FID、ECD等

Extracted Ion Chromatogram
Suppose you were only interested in compounds that have an m/z 77 signal in the
mass spectrum. This is part of the power of collecting the three dimensional
GC/MS data. Instead of plotting the total ion current vs. time, one can choose
to plot a single mass (or small range of masses) signal vs. time. This
Extracted Ion Chromatogram (EIC) allows the mass spectrometer to be used as a
selective detector. One can display data only for peaks of interest in
cluttered TIC's.

大概意思你的cpds在m/z 77是感興趣的，鎖定此m/z對時間所做出的圖譜，就是EIC了
是被用來當作選擇性的偵測器
