英國近代文壇巨擘與現代奇幻文學之父《哈比人歷險記》、《魔戒》系列原作者 J.R.R. Tolkien 的傳記電影《托爾金 Tolkien》令許多人相當期待，其豐富而戲劇化的一生由《真寵》Nicholas Hoult 與《真愛繞圈圈》Lily Collins 重新演繹，北美檔期預定下周 5 月 10 日，但還未上映卻先造成了一些爭議。

此次《芬蘭湯姆》的芬蘭導演 Dome Karukoski 非常堅持故事必須忠於史實，也是尼可拉斯霍特繼沙林傑之後再次挑戰詮釋大文豪的角色，外表文質彬彬的他相當適合此類戲路，並不遺餘力全神貫注投入於托爾金一角身上，連在拍攝《X 戰警：黑鳳凰》時都利用瑣碎時間揣摩托爾金風格的素描繪畫技巧。然而，就在四月底時，托爾金家族與遺產管理委員會公開發出聲明，表示不認可、不支持，更沒有參與任何製作，導演也公開表示曾經在倫敦首映前邀請他們一起來觀賞這部電影，但最終遭到拒絕，而且不與托爾金遺產管理委員會合作反而可以讓自己有更多空間發揮創造力。
　
「老實說，不與他們合作的原因其實相當明顯，假使合作了，你遲早會失去耐性事事徵求他們許可，甚至開始服務他們，和他們變成朋友，但你不該與他們打成一片，如此一來才能維繫一開始的初衷、保持自己對於劇中人物的純粹感覺。我們事前做了非常周全的準備，我們也深刻理解角色們和其真實情緒，為了深入挖掘這些真實情緒，難免在面對遺產委員會時隱藏部分事實，否則會陷入窒息，如果你希望觀眾能感受到某種情緒，有些事就必須敬而遠之。」
　
托爾金遺產管理委員會主要是由他高齡 94 歲的兒子 Christopher Tolkien 在主導，曾數度表示對於所有托爾金的改編作品皆不滿意，包括彼得傑克森的《魔戒》三部曲，甚至早在 1960 年代時就嚴正拒絕迪士尼購買《魔戒》電影版權的意願。但至少，托爾金家族裡至少有一人是認同這部傳記電影的，就是托爾金的曾孫 Callum Tolkien，也在電影中演出主角的戰時軍中同袍，並親自出席首映會。

The player continues the story of the ranger Talion and the spirit of the elf lord Celebrimbor, who shares Talion's body, as they forge a new Ring of Power to amass an army to fight against Sauron. The game builds upon the "Nemesis System" introduced in Shadow of Mordor, allowing Talion to gain followers from several races of Middle-earth, including Uruks and Ologs, and plan out complex strategies using these to complete missions.

Shadow of War was well received by critics, with heavy praise aimed towards it's much improved nemesis system, production value, and lore, while it's story was received mixly, and it's use of Microtransactions was heavily panned.
