What Love means to a 4-8 year old

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, ’What does love mean?’ The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined

‘During my piano recital , I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’ – Cindy, age 8

‘My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’ –Clare, age 6

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’ –Elaine, age 5

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.’ –Chris, age 7

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.’ -Mary Ann, age 4

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’ –Lauren, age 4

‘When you love somebody , your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ - Karen, age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross..’ –Mark, age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’ –Jessica, age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, ‘Nothing , I just helped him cry’.

【 口語英文時間 】顏值、公眾放閃的英文要怎麼說呢?
＃還是是要介紹心碎？

這照片...我想應該不用介紹了，是同溫層中的應該已經知道這個新聞。

中文的放閃，如果是指在公開場合、social-networking sites (臉書、Instagram、Snapchat) 上曬恩愛，英文會用 PDA 來說，也就是 public display affection 的簡寫。形容情侶 (or not!?) 肢體動作很多、卿卿我我的，英文也會用 lovey-dovey 這個形容詞來形容人或couples)。

(Note: 但人家的那照是婚禮上拍的，而且在照片裡恩愛本來就是正常的，沒有在我們本人面前曬，就比較不會這樣用喔。可以合理使用 PDA、lovey-dovey 的語境，講的人有一部分是要表達 "誒夠囉！" 道地一些的說法，女生們可能要昧著良心說: Awww so sweeet.)

No PDA please! （如果要嗆一點，叫人停止，老美如果跟你熟，可能會直接說 Get a room!)

Eg. All my friends were either lovey-dovey couples or wild, single girls.

至於顏值，英文可以用的表達方式蠻多的。
但考量「顏值」這樣的中文，其實也是蠻現代的表達，所以像是 "hotness" 就算是比較相對應的翻譯囉！
