🇹🇼 Opened in 2018 and having already garnered its first Michelin star, Logy is the Taipei branch of Tokyo's famed Florilége, headed by chef Ryogo Tahara. In a darkened countertop space resembling its Japanese parent, we tasted a multi-course journey with delightful starters including a chawanmushi with crab meats - inventively done with temperature contrast between hot dashi versus a cold Angelica ice-cream. Other highlights included an amadai with its signature crispy top, along with a guinea fowl served with both dark and white meats deliciously complimented by a basil risotto made from sticky rice. 🇬🇧 A modern Chinese eatery nestled in Victoria, A. Wong is the eponymous chef's flagship eatery which focuses on bringing modern techniques to classical dishes. Here, we tasted its evening menu which included dim sum, shared plates and mains, as well as wok fried delicacies. Highlights were some of the dim sum pieces that included the siu mai with pork crackling, adding a crispy texture, while its har gao was made with tender prawns dressed with a rice vinegar cloud - an aesthetic pleaser that brings a twist to a classic. While its main dishes were fair, these felt like a dressed-up versions of Chinatown classics that were oil-abundant and overly-sauced. In the end, we do applaud its dim sums that were inventively a bold step forward, but the rest of its selections were definitely not at the Michelin-starred caliber we've grown accustomed to out in the east. 🇭🇰 TMK (a.k.a. Tamakeria) is Pirata Group's new casual dive-bar inspired eatery in Sheung Wan, helmed by chefs Miguel Huelamo and Takeshi Suzuki.  A mixture of East meets West can found here in its maki rolls of which we tasted both the traditionals and the more unconventional TMKs.  Highlights included the soft shell crab which was crispy with wasabi mayo and tobiko, while the tuna hotdog was a fried version with added spicy tuna - an inventively marriage of varying texture.  All decked out in an edgy setting with a 90s rock soundtrack, TMK is a lively little joint with complimentary sake shots served through the night; setting a fun vibe which the Pirata Group has mastered in creating at its eateries.
