You Were Healed

“When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.”” (Matthew‬ ‭8:16-17‬ WEB‬‬)

How come Jesus could heal all these sinners who came to Him? Doesn’t death have the right to latch upon a sinner? Someone has to pay the price for that.

Yes, it is true. Every infirmity (weakness) and disease that Jesus healed, He also bore in His own body at the cross. He took all our sicknesses upon Himself.

What did Isaiah say?

“Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah‬ ‭53:4-5‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

At the cross, Jesus was not punished for His own sins—He had always been sinless. Abba God placed our sins, sicknesses, and infirmities upon Jesus, and let the fire of His wrath fall upon Jesus as our substitute.

Since God’s wrath has been fully exhausted in Jesus’ body, there is none left for us who are now in Christ. Jesus righteously purchased our shalom (complete wellness and wholeness with nothing lacking or broken), causing us to be healed.

“who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.” (1 Peter‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Peter puts this truth in perspective for us. By the stripes that Jesus received, we WERE healed. Our healing happened at the cross.

Today, we who believe in Jesus are no longer sinners. Death has no right to latch upon us because we are resurrected beings, having already died to sin with Jesus at the cross.

We have received the righteousness of God, which is Jesus’ own righteousness. This gift of righteousness marks us for God’s grace. We are blessed with every blessing because we are the righteous!

If you see and experience symptoms of sickness or infirmity in your body, meditate on this message and let this truth sink into your heart: you were healed at the cross because Jesus paid the full price for it. When you clearly understand what happened, you will have boldness to take what is already yours!

The Holy Spirit Will Never Leave You

“Now Yahweh’s Spirit departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh troubled him. Saul’s servants said to him, “See now, an evil spirit from God troubles you.” (1 Samuel‬ ‭16:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When Saul kept sinning against God by disobeying His instructions through prophet Samuel, the Holy Spirit departed from Saul. In its place, an evil spirit was allowed to pester Saul. God had removed His hand of protection from Saul and he no longer had the anointing of a king.

“Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all of my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your holy Spirit from me.” (Psalms‬ ‭51:9-11‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

When David sinned by committing adultery with Bathsheba and conspired to murder her husband Uriah, God rebuked him through the prophet Nathan, and David was sorrowful. He wrote the words in the psalm above. David was so afraid that God would remove the Holy Spirit from him, just like He did to Saul.

Under the Law, if someone sins, the Holy Spirit can depart from him. The Law is a covenant whereby God’s presence, anointing, and blessings depended on man’s obedience.

I watched a sermon video the other day of Katherine Kuhlman preaching a nonsensical message, with “take not Your Holy Spirit from me” as a focus. She also said that if we desired the power of the Holy Spirit and to see miracles, we have to ‘pay the price’.

“Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.” So that with good courage we say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?”” (Hebrews‬ ‭13:5-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

As far as I know, God has promised to never leave or forsake us in any way. He will never remove His Holy Spirit from us.

On top of that, the blood that Jesus shed at the cross is what paid the full price for us to have the Holy Spirit and the fullness of His power. We could not pay the price and that is why Abba God sent Jesus to pay it on our behalf.

“I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,— the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.” (John‬ ‭14:16-17‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Read Jesus’ words above. Under Grace, the Holy Spirit will “be with you forever”—not just until the next time you sin. It is not based on your obedience, but the obedience of Christ at the cross.

Do not let anyone bring you into the bondage of wrong believing, no matter how famous they are. We must know the Scriptures so that we will not be deceived.

Are we supposed to pluck our eyes out when we sin? Are we supposed to cut off our arms and legs like Jesus said? We need to understand the important reason why He said what He did. There is a purpose that you won’t understand if you have no context or background knowledge of the whole Bible.

Delivered out of Darkness

“It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.” (Luke‬ ‭23:44-46‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Jesus was delivered up to the darkness, so that we who were once in darkness could be delivered out of it and be brought near to God, to always walk in the light of His favor.

“giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins;” (Colossians‬ ‭1:12-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

The veil in the temple was torn in two because the sins that separated us from God has been justly punished in Jesus’ body. By the tearing of His flesh and the shedding of His blood, we have been reconciled to God.

“For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them: ‘After those days,’ says the Lord, ‘I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;’” then he says, “I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.” Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;” (Hebrews‬ ‭10:14-20‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

God vowed to never count your sins and iniquities against you, so stand in His presence without self-condemnation. The one-time sacrifice of Jesus’ blood has qualified you to enter the true Holy of Holies in Heaven. The more you enter this place, the more life you receive.
