    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few days back I went to LuDan's TV show to be interviewed.
LuDan asked me a question that bewildered me, he asked whether the cosplay circle is a dark place.
I was confused that outsiders would see us cosplayers as always causing conflict with each other, with some pitying the cosplayers.

I never wished for everyone to believe that the cosplay circle was hard to approach or required anything.

Past me would probably have thought that cosplay was something sacred, that you had to fulfill criteria to enter. But the current me believes this isn't the case; as long as you want to have fun with everyone, anyone can join, there are no criteria or rules.

Back then I would've thought anyone missing a piece of a costume would be sacrilege, but now I think that was me following outdated ways of thinking.

You don't need to have every part of your costume ready, nor do you have to wear a wig, and you especially don't have to follow guidelines for the right to cosplay. You can do anything you want, as long as you want to, because that is how you can enjoy cosplaying, using the way you think is most appropriate.

It's like playing basketball. There are a bunch of rules in professional basketball, but when you're playing with your friends, who is going to care? Everyone just has as much fun as possible.

Some outside people want to try cosplaying, but maybe they don't know how, and using their own way to perform would generate criticism, making them feel as if it's difficult to get in the loop. I would've used to think, "if you don't know how, then don't cosplay, okay?"

But ever since I've discussed this with outside people who've had similar experiences, I've found that they just wanted to play around with cosplay, not thinking that doing so would cause a backlash from the community, hurting them.

That got me thinking... what have we done...

We've already forgotten that cosplay fundamentally hoped for oneself to become closer to a favorite character's world -- to enjoy being the character.

Now it's like cosplay has reached a pathological state, even manifesting ridiculous rules. Whether you want to reach that level is your own criteria for yourself, but it doesn't mean you can put the same criteria on other cosplayers.

I hope the cosplay circle can be a bit more open, because this circle is so so small and hostile, to the extent of no communication with the outside, because we seal ourselves into this little circle.

If there are a few more people that can join us, come have fun with us, give the world a good impression and let everyone believe they can cosplay --

I believe next time LuDan will simply say, "I'm happy for all the cosplayers; everyone looks like they're having fun, and I've been thinking of joining."

    That'd be much better "

I tried lol idk how to translate LuDan
