這首歌是前團員Dave Mustaine十五歲時的作品。當他離開前一個團Panic加入
Metallica時，把歌也帶了過去。和他另一首加入Metallica前就寫好的作品The
Mechanix（The Four Horseman）一樣，Jump In The Fire原本的歌詞與性有關，
Metallica在後來錄製Kill 'Em All時重寫了歌詞。
