在3D列印競賽決審期間看到許多參賽者的創作，讓小編特別想向大家介紹SKY_Associative空間設計作品《 Hexapod》，帶大家瞭解設計師Charng Shin Chen如何以挑戰嶄新的材料與數位製造技術，結合多種工法技術，使用3D列印解決方案，來滿足設計小量定制配件的需求。

Hexapod系列，是由 sKY_Associative 設計團隊為國立成功大學會計學系暨財務金融研究所設計的大廳空間與裝置設計。創系逾 60 年的會計學系冀藉由翻新現有的24平方米的公共空間，為該系的學生與教職員工提供更優質且兼具現代感的社交環境。
Hexapod 挑戰傳統室內裝修的工法，操作材料、製造及運算邏輯三個要素，以此設計铣削的紋理、具運算邏輯的造型及木料的顏色，為系館帶來全新的風貌與氣象。
Hexapod正如其名，以六角形單元將數位加法製程、減法製程和諧地整合至牆面與長椅設計之中。在減法製程上，不同厚度的黑色沃克板和樺木板膠合在一起，透過 3 軸和 6 軸加工方法銑削出不同深度，得以產生豐富的木紋圖樣及光滑細緻的表面。被選作為整體基調的沃克板，具有強度高、纖維顆粒細的特色，這些優點使設計在數位加工下，精準呈現數位模型裡盡數的細節；此外，使用不同比例的平光和亮光漆塗覆至沃克板，亦帶給設計視覺上更多層次感。
而在加法製造上，使用3D列印的解決方案，滿足了設計小量定制配件的需求，這些配件採用了CHIMEI | MODEX ABS 3D列印線材，經過五個階段工序後 (打磨，成型，底漆，電鍍和拋光) 達到金屬質感的外觀，並作為門把安裝至面板上。當運用上述這些技術，除了對設計施作有所助益外，亦對Hexapod的設計概念與合作模式產生影響。
這是多項應用結合的創作，可以瞭解到設計是最重要的本質，但透過選擇好的應用工具，可以讓設計產生加乘效果。

It has been over a year since we completed our first public project, the Hexapod installation for the Department of Accounting at National Cheng Kung University. While our practice these last few years has been focused primarily on developing direct to manufacturing modes of design at the product scale, this experience gave us our first opportunity to explore its potentials at the scale of architectural space. Through the implementation of 6-Axis robotic milling with our fabrication team at Yang Xin Advanced Manufacture, the textures, patterns and complex curvature of our project Hexapod came to life. We hope that this newly renovated space can enliven the students, faculty, and visitor to the department.
