【世紀大評比：牛津、劍橋、朗文，誰的例句贏了？】

「學英文，要記得看例句、背例句」是越來越多人有的認知了。但是實際操作起來，大多人會碰到的問題是：

1️⃣ 不知道要看哪一本字典的例句（牛津？劍橋？朗文？韋氏) 。
2️⃣ 傻呼呼地抄了一些一輩子用不到、跟自己生活八竿子打不著的例句。

看字典的例句，建議可以從 2 個地方下手：

✔︎ 用例句幫助自己了解這個字的「意思」（不需要背例句)。

✔︎ 字典有篇幅限制、也有要符合「任何時代的人都可以看」的特性，#例句通常會有點過時是合理的。這時只要看裡頭的「文法搭配」、「詞義搭配」、「片語動詞」等等的語塊就可以了（怎麼抓語塊、怎麼用 Notion 整理，可以參考 3D 英文筆記術課程）。

要找好的、適合自己學習的例句，有 2 種方式：
1️⃣ 慢一點要從自己閱讀當中累積
2️⃣ 快一點可以從 fraze it 這樣的語料庫當中搜尋

🁢 字典輸給閱讀的具體例子：

假設今天你在 The Psychology of Money (致富心態) 一書中的 p.72 看到 doppelgänger 這個字（母語人士幾乎都知道的字），想要查它，字典會給你這樣的結果：

・牛津：沒有例句 XD
・劍橋：沒有例句，給了這樣的中譯：（與活人長相極相像的）幽靈；相貌極相似的人
・朗文：自然從語料庫裡抓的例句，最值得讀的例句長這樣 This phrase always intrigued Bob; as if the speaker could split herself in two, providing a doppelgänger companion.

我們來看看 The Psychology of Money 書裡的這句話吧：

Risk and luck are doppelgängers.

在閱讀的情境當中，你很容易就能解讀出，冒風險和碰運氣 #外部條件看起來相似但往往只有一線之隔 的意思。

拜登的就職典禮上，有個鎂光燈焦點，她是22歲年輕非裔詩人Amanda Gorman，也是有史以來美國總統就職典禮上朗讀詩歌的最年輕詩人，她下台後，美國媒體一致好評，說她的亮眼表現簡直偷走了整個舞台，她ig也硬生生從不到九萬人追蹤，到現在已經有將近兩百六十萬個追蹤者，機會來了，Amanda Gorman成功抓住，也是新的美國夢的代表。

Amanda Gorman來自自由的洛杉磯，去年從哈佛畢業，還在就學的時候就已經嶄露頭角，2017年成為美國第一位National Youth Poet Laureate得主，一直以來她的作品都聚焦在種族平等、反性騷擾等議題，點開影片看看她的朗誦，站在全美國人、全世界的人面前，她台風穩健、絲毫不怯場，用自己的詩作The Hill We Climb抓住了所有人的目光，但我們沒看出來的是，她從小患有語言障礙，無法發出部分字母的音，能這樣站在台上，不知道在台下花了多少努力。

Amanda Gorman在朗誦中強調：「美國人已經體驗過不願同甘共苦、分裂國家的那種力量，這股勢力為了拖延民主發展，也會導致國家被摧毀，但這項行動沒有成功，雖然民主可能遭到耽誤，但是卻永遠不會被擊敗。」她也說：「一個瘦巴巴的黑人女孩，身為奴隸後代，被單親媽媽扶養長大，但是卻能夢想有一天當上總統，現在正在為總統朗誦詩詞。」

五分多鐘的演講，得到全場鼓掌跟歡呼，希望這些激勵人心的詩句，能彌補美國被選舉撕裂的傷痕，我很喜歡她的詩作的結尾，就分享這段不負責翻譯給大家:

Everyone should know by now that this single did not come easy for any member on the Meiwa team, especially Lara herself. The song's finally out, and to show her support, our director Esther Veronin has put her 110% into creating a music video which does Lara's masterpiece justice. "Where Do We Go" has many meanings, but Esther was inspired by the song to raise awareness for feminism in the video. On your journey, have YOU met any strong and beautiful women?
