There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

Unfortunately, half a year after we arrived, he left us. That was a huge shock. Our transition had already been quite difficult, as we both didn't speak English. Also, as Shanghai was such a big bustling city, Sydney felt a bit like the countryside, especially on the weekends, as no shops were open back then!

As we had become socially isolated, we didn’t find out anything about Centrelink, so we survived on her savings for a while, and then got some help from her family back in China.

Eventually, Mum moved us down to Melbourne, where we were able to make some new networks and family friendships. But I was bullied a bit at school about things like my food and clothing! Whenever someone bullied me, I would defend myself, but because I didn’t have the language skills to explain to the teacher why, I got in trouble quite a bit. I ended up having to move school 3 times before I came to Balwyn Primary School, which was relatively multicultural.

After that, I did alright. Music featured very prominently in my life. I had started learning the violin from the age of 2.5 years old and even with all the troubles that were going on in my life, had somehow still kept up with it. As a result, I got a music scholarship to Trinity Grammar School. But even there I used to get into quite a lot of mischief, and would often skip school to go to the movies.

Bob Dylan，本名Robert Allen Zimmerman，1941年生於美國明尼蘇達。創作歌手、作家、2016年諾貝爾文學獎得主。
　
狄倫是二十世紀以降西方樂壇最受尊崇、影響力最大的創作歌手，在《滾石雜誌》評選的「史上百大創作歌手」名列第一。他不僅繼承吟唱詩人的民歌傳統，亦能融會古今，緊扣時代意識，翻轉語言質地，徹底改變了民謠的風貌。又與搖滾結合，打破樂種藩籬，成為青年叛逆文化的旗手。同代人風行草偃，觸發了西方流行樂的巨大變革。其後一度回歸鄉村樂與草根歌謠，並漸次鎔鑄各路樂風，賦傳統以新意，亦帶來極深遠的影響。
　
畢生獲獎無數，包括十一座葛萊美獎（含一座終身成就獎），並曾以電影主題曲獲奧斯卡獎與金球獎，1988年進入搖滾名人堂。2008年以其「歌詞創作飽含特出的詩的力量，對流行音樂和美國文化帶來深遠影響」獲普立茲特別獎。
　
2016年獲頒諾貝爾文學獎，成為第一位獲此獎項的音樂人。瑞典學院表彰他「在偉大的美國歌謠傳統裡創造了全新的詩意表達」。
　
狄倫迄今出版逾三十張錄音室專輯，並著有小說《狼蛛》（Tarantula）、自傳《搖滾記》（Chronicles: Vol.1，中文版由大塊文化出版）。他也是業餘畫家，曾出版畫冊多種，並有鑄鐵裝置等藝術創作。
《巴布．狄倫歌詩集》收錄了狄倫1961至2012年間創作的386首歌詞，中英文對照，依31張專輯次序整理，其中多首經狄倫親手重新編輯。《紐約時報》謂：「狄倫作為一位歌手而足以躋身文學史，這部書便是最有力的證據。」

◎小編淵智賞析
　
這首〈Blowing in the wind〉想來大家都不陌生，作為Bob Dylan最被人記得的歌之一，從1963年發行以來，深深地影響了全世界整整一世代的人。臺灣自然也不例外，楊弦的〈江湖上〉便是向此歌致敬的衍生之作之一。Bob Dylan的許多歌曲，除了對音樂的實驗，也在其中納入了許多對於人生、社會的深刻思索，這也使得他在2016年獲得了諾貝爾文學獎，也是第一名獲得該獎的歌手，此舉一出無數人驚訝之餘，卻也紛紛表示能理解此一選擇。然而，即使有著這樣的光環，Bob Dylan卻在半年後，才親自領取此一獎章。在許多人譴責他傲慢無禮的同時，卻也得以讓我們看見他如何視這些榮譽如浮雲，也讓我們在他身上，真真正正地體會到了何謂「吟遊詩人」的姿態。正如Bob Dylan曾在1969年的訪談中說過：「我只把歌詞看成用來唱的東西，真正重要的，是字句依附的音樂。我寫歌，是因為我總得有些什麼可唱。這是紙上的字句和歌曲的差別：歌在空中轉瞬即逝，紙頁卻能長留。一位偉大的詩人，比方華萊士‧史蒂文斯（Wallace Stevens, 1879-1955）未必能成就偉大的歌者。一位偉大的歌者，像是比莉‧哈樂黛（Billie Holiday, 1915-1959），卻總是能夠成就偉大的詩人。」＊
　
回到歌詞，整首歌分成三段，每段的結構近似，由三個問題開始，並以「The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind答案呀，吾友，隨風飄盪／The answer is blowin' in the wind答案就飄盪在風裡」作結，彷彿屈原面對世間種種萬物所賦之《天問》，差別在於Bob Dylan問的問題並不像屈原那樣從天地離分、陰陽變化、日月星辰等自然現象，一直問到神話傳説乃至聖賢兇頑和治亂興衰等問題。Bob Dylan的問題如此簡單，在三段分別開頭的第一個問題，他只問了白鴿、高山和天空，接著便回過頭來，以此自然現象的推移隱喻接力至人的存在：和平與戰爭、自由與囚禁、死亡與生命，這三件事幾乎便是人類有史以來永恆的命題，然而經過幾千年的歷史，我們卻似乎依然陷於這樣的困境，無法脫身。Bob Dylan歌中所建立的世界，便不僅僅只是當代，而是只要人類存在一日，便永遠無法迴避的。也正因如此，他的歌反應的世界觀永遠不會過時，在一個吟遊詩人走在風裡時，他所歌唱的一切，也正隨著風，垂問著一切尚在變動的事物、一切人的行動，而這些問題，也正問著我們：究竟人類能否為人類自身造成的苦難負起責任？

🇬🇧#英國工作篇

上回講到在英國工作的福利，今回就來講下它的缺點或者不足之處啦，當然視乎不同行業和工作環境都會不同，以下純粹我個人分享！

1. 在倫敦工作交通昂貴🚝
如果你剛好住在倫敦的周邊地區，每天要坐火車或underground經過London Bridge或Victoria這些大站來回公司和家中的話，交通費真的可以貴得驚人😭，雖然鐵路公司有每日和每週的收費上限(Daily/Weekly Cap)，但例如由Zone 5去Zone 1上班，單程至少£5，一天來回至少£10，每日的收費上限是£12.70，每天就要港幣$130，認真昂貴❗️所以，如果一星期要返足5日公司，就可以考慮買月票，相對便宜一點，而近一年多以來，因為疫情在家工作，為我們節省了不少車錢，一個月可以慳到港幣$2,000有多，要返公司的日子就用Pay as You go，坐幾多俾幾多👌！

2. 出糧直接被扣稅💸
在香港工作，以月薪計算，每年等稅單來才要交稅，但來到英國工作，大部份全職都是以年薪計算，每個月僱主會從你的薪金中直接扣除稅項，所以出糧時會覺得今個月又少了錢入袋💰！被扣除的稅分別是Income Tax(入息稅)和National Insurance(國民保險，簡稱NI)，兩種都是強制性供款的，Income Tax就根據你的年薪稅率而定，年薪低於£12,500是無需交稅的，年薪由£12,500至£50,000就要交20%入息稅📈；至於國民保險NI，月薪由£797至£4,189就要繳交12%，月薪£4,189以上就要繳交2%！所以，來到英國工作，一開始見到出糧時戶口的實質數字和合約上的不同，真的滿頭問號❓，畢竟英國的稅制又多又複雜，對於數字不靈敏的我，不明白最好請教公司的同事和HR！

3. 求職多面試，心很累😵
一般人來到英國如果找份文職工作，或者一些專業行業和Position，由send CV到收到第一個Phone call，再去到第一次、第二次面試，甚至更多面試和筆試，見完HR又見Team head，好彩的話幾星期已有消息，不好彩的話可以玩足兩至三個月🤷‍♀️，比起香港interview一次或二次就知道結果，在英國見工就複雜得多！當然不同行業的要求不同，例如售貨員、超市收銀員、理髮師、廚師👨‍🍳等，面試過程亦都不同，而一些專業行業如醫生👩‍⚕️、護士、建築師、水電工程人員👨‍🔧等，亦需要獲取英國認可的資格才可入職，所以剛剛來到英國仍在找工作的香港朋友加油呀！

4. 英國同事不食lunch😅
在香港工作，每天lunch都會和兩三個同事外出午餐，閒時傾下八卦，出街透透氣，但在英國公司上班的話，就會發覺他們lunch是不吃東西的，有時食個簡單的沙律🥗🥙、薯片🍟就一餐，亦沒有帶飯返工的文化，而且彈性食飯時間，只要上班時間內完成今天的工作就可以了，這樣的話，和同事之間的聯繫好像少了，但其實是方式變了，可能星期五大夥兒去酒吧飲酒🍻，或者透過公司聚會食飯，大家才會聚在一起。

其實英國很多公司都是Multicultural的，除了🇬🇧英國同事，很多人都來自歐洲和其他不同國家，例如法國、巴西、羅馬尼亞、印度等等，大家本身的背景、職場文化、生活和飲食習慣就已經不同，母語亦不是英文，所以香港的朋友剛來到英國進入職場，亦不需要給自己太大壓力，因為別人同樣地會包容你，只要全心投入適應了，顯示出自己積極的工作態度，很快就能投入到本地的職場生活🤞！

阿肆《熱愛105度的你》小提琴版本 | Violin cover by Lin Tzu An

《熱愛105度的你》本來是中國歌手阿肆在2019年為屈臣氏蒸餾水的廣告創作，是想表達屈臣氏蒸餾水採用105°C專業製作過程，關鍵環節要求精準控制在105°C。
但因為旋律輕鬆洗腦，變成了抖音神曲，爆紅後不少歌手也接連cover（反正剛好都關在家裡），就連台北市長柯文哲都來了（誤）

第一次聽會覺得這什麼歌啦😆可是不得不承認，這首洗腦程度非常適合當作廣告歌，聽完之後腦袋都是這首歌（柯市長版本），要考試的孩子絕對不能聽，不然作文第一句下筆恐怕會寫出super idol的笑容XDDDD

This song was made by a China singer for commercial of Watsons in 2019. It was intended to say how professional and dedicated Watsons made their private brand bottle water.
But the melody was soooooo brainwashing, it became a hit on TikTok. Also, there were many singers from Taiwan covering the song. The most amazing and surprising cover would be the one made by the Mayor of Taipei City (It's actually someone whose voice sounds super similar to the mayor LOL)

I was like WTH the song it is but at the same time, I have to admit it's such a wise strategy to use this brainwashing song in the commercial. The song is automatically played in my head after listening to it for only once.

During the epidemic, everyone is very emotional. So I decided to have some fun in my cover =D
