Throwback again... this time it's my lunch at Gunther's with Nancy, Kartika and Isaac... last last week. Had 2 amazing dishes besides my usual favourites of cold angel hair pasta and beef carpaccio... the giant hokkaido scallop and lightly seared toro tartare with uni. Among all the European/French/fine dining restaurants that i have been to, I'd say that Gunther's is still the best and my all time favourite. Today I am going to post my pictures from back to front...starting with the petit fours because i want to elaborate more about the caneles served here. It is "The Best Caneles"! I don't even want to compare. It's just simply the best, crispy on the outside and moist, spongy, chewy inside with the right sweetness of honey and rum. For desserts, it is a tough choice of apple tart, crepe suzette or cheese platter. And today, we ladies decided that we are having the cheese platter, while our men have to take the apple tart, (no choice allowed for them) so we ladies can help them out with dessert. 🤭 Our lunch started with my favourite cold truffle angel pasta, followed by a new chef creation... avocado with caviar. It's amazing how light yet creamy this avocado puree is and the taste of caviar was further accentuated by the clean taste of avocado. Eating this dish once again reminded ne of why i love the food at Gunther's so much. You get quality ingredients that is mind blowing yet not overwhelming. And best part is, i know exactly what i am eating! Unlike some places that serves you pretty concoctions but leave you wondering what you just ate. Next up was my favourite wagyu beef carpaccio before we were served our main. For main... I still decided to go with the same pork jowl that i had last week because it was so good. The pork was so tender and juicy... while my Milutin went with the same grill king prawn with tomato infused rice. A meal at Gunther's is always an amazing gastronomical experience. Service here is always top notch, friendly but polite, attentive yet not intrusive. And the food... oohh lala... is always good. Came for the restaurant week menu today and i am amazed that no shortcuts was taken. The cold truffle angel pasta is too die for as usual with a generous topping of caviar. We added an additional wagyu beef carpaccio with the grilled sweet corn... because i simply this dish (nobody does it as well as @gunther_hubrechsen ) and I feel odd not to order this dish when I'm at Gunther's. For my main, i had the pork jowl with apple mousselim, while Milutin had the light smoke roasted prawn with tomato infused rice (too bad i forgot to take a photo). And for dessert, i had a cheese platter while Milutin had my favourite apple tart with rum and raisin ice cream (no prize for guessing who ate the most of the apple tart 😄) And for the sweetest ending... petit fours including my favourite caneles with an aromatic glass of black coffee!!
