「微解封」的英文怎麼說？

最近有蠻多同學寫信來詢問這個問題。

好，回到主題。

首先，我們知道解除疫情封鎖的英文是「lift COVID-19 restrictions」。

📌 lift (v.) 解除 （封鎖⋯⋯）

「lift」這個字有許多意思，這裡作為動詞使用，意思是：

to end a rule or law 取消、撤銷規定或法律

• The restrictions on water usage have been lifted now that the river levels are normal.

河水的水位已經恢復正常，因此用水限制被取消了。

• At last they've lifted the ban on jeans at the club.

最終他們取消了在俱樂部禁止穿牛仔褲的規定。

問題在哪裡呢？

首先，pray（拜拜、祈禱、祈求）是個不及物動詞，可以不放受詞：

I went to the temple to pray.
(我去寺廟拜拜。)

但要繼續講的話，就需要加介詞。

關鍵是，哪個介詞？

原則是：

★要說向哪一個神祈禱，用 to.

★要說為了誰祈禱，或者為了得到什麼，用 for.

To 表示向哪個神祈禱：

I prayed to Guanyin.
(我向觀音祈禱。)

所以上面的第一個『例錯』應該：

√ I prayed to God.

For 可以表示你是為了誰去祈求幫助：

I prayed for my friend.
(我為了朋友祈禱。)

也可以表示你自己要得到的東西：

I prayed for help on my test.
(我祈求考試順利。)

當然 to & for 可以一起用：

I prayed to God for guidance.
(我向上帝拜拜，祈求指引。)

那，現在應該不難看得出為什麼第二個『例錯』那麼荒謬。

如果你說 I prayed for Yuelao, 感覺是你就是★為了★月老祈禱，然後是向★另外一個神★祈禱的！

就像你去找媽祖拜拜說，『嘿，媽祖，最近月老很糟糕，你可以幫助祂嗎？』這樣會很奇怪！

當然說者的意思是：

√ I prayed to Yuelao.
