"คำอธิบายทางวิทยาศาสตร์ของรูปปั้นร้องไห้"

วันนี้มีนักข่าวหลายสำนัก โทรมาขอความเห็นทางวิทยาศาสตร์เกี่ยวกับเรื่องที่รูปปั้น "พระยาพิชัยดาบหัก" ที่ ต.ในเมือง อ.พิชัย จ.อุตรดิตถ์ มีคราบของน้ำ ไหลออกจากบริเวณตาทั้ง 2 ข้าง พาดผ่านแก้มลงมา ในช่วงรำลึกถึงวันชนะศึกของพระเจ้าตากสินที่ตีค่ายโพธิ์สามต้นแตก ทำให้มีคนเดินทางมาสักการะบูชาเป็นจำนวนมาก

เรื่องนี้ก็คงจะเป็นความเชื่อส่วนบุคคลของแต่ละคน แต่ในทางวิทยาศาสตร์นั้น ก็อาจจะสันนิษฐานในแบบที่ทางเจ้าหน้าที่ของอำเภอได้ให้ความเห็นไว้ คือ "เพราะช่วงนี้อากาศชื้นเย็นและน้ำค้างที่กระทบกับโลหะในองค์ท่าน จนเกิดเป็นคราบคล้ายน้ำตาไหลออกมาก็เป็นไปได้" ครับ

ส่วนที่จะเพิ่มเติมให้นั้น ก็คือ ปรากฏการณ์เช่นนี้เคยเกิดขึ้นมาแล้วหลายครั้งในต่างประเทศ (โดยเฉพาะในรูปปั้นของพระแม่มารี และเซนต์ต่างๆ ของศาสนาคริสต์) มีชื่อเรียกรวมๆ ว่า weeping statue หรือรูปปั้นร้องไห้ ซึ่งมีของเหลวไหลออกมาจากตาของรูปปั้น ทั้งที่ดูเป็นน้ำตา น้ำมัน น้ำหอม หรือกระทั่งเลือด และมักจะถูกเชื่อมโยงกับปาฏิหาริย์ต่างๆ

ส่วนกรณีที่พบว่ามีคราบของน้ำไหลออกมาจริงๆ นั้น คำอธิบายทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ก็คือ การควบแน่น (condensation) ของน้ำ โดยไอน้ำในอากาศมารวมตัวกันเป็นหยดน้ำ (คล้ายๆ กับการเกิดน้ำค้างหยดที่ปลายของใบไม้นั่นแหล่ะ) โดยมักจะสะสมบริเวณที่รูปปั้นมีความหนาแน่นของวัสดุที่ใช้สร้างอยู่สูง และพบว่าตรงจุดนั้นเย็นกว่าตรงอื่น ซึ่งก็มักจะเป็นที่ดวงตาของรูปปั้น

สรุปอีกครั้งว่า เรื่องทำนองนี้ค่อนข้างเป็นความเชื่อส่วนบุคคล แต่ถ้าเชื่อว่ารูปปั้นพระยาพิชัยหลั่งน้ำตาได้จริง ก็ขอให้เป็นน้ำตาแห่งความปิติ อย่างที่ทางอำเภอว่าไว้นะครับ
