- Sharp Peak - That moment when you conquered one of the toughest trail in Hong Kong! Here's my quick review: ⁣ ⚠️Difficulty: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ There are 4 very steep climbs and you cannot avoid them. Hard when ascending, but even harder when descending due to its gravelly and sandy surface. ⁣ 🏃‍♂️Distance: ~12K round trip ⁣ ⌛Duration: 6-7 hours. If you love taking photos every step of the way, maybe 8! ⁣ 👟Gears: Hiking shoes with strong grip, gloves(!!), windbreaker depends on the season, enough water, sunscreen, and some snacks. ⁣ 📍How to get there: Pak Tam Au (北潭凹) I drove to Sai Kung and parked outside Sai Kung Country Park Vistors’ Centre. For that you have to go super early (7:30/8am) for a spot. Lots of people park on the street too bearing the risk of parking tickets. This time I had 1996 Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow— we brought our own bottle to the lunch at The French Laundry. Compare to the 1977 Red Rock Terrace I had at Benu, the 96 Gravelly Meadow is bolder in character! But the body is lighter. The black truffle aroma is quite aggressive, maybe because I don't drink much American wine, it's the first time I tasted a wine with such obvious black truffle aroma, I joked, "Did some black truffle shaving was left on the side of the table from the last dish?" Chef Lanshu had a sip, "It's so wild." I replied, "Perfect for me!" Again, the 1977 Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace was a uniquely excellent wine.
