樂觀者有一帖靈藥，就是用比較反襯出自己有多幸福，「你睇下非洲啲飢民幾慘，再睇下自己，生在福中不知福！」這就叫被說服的幸福，可讓人死心塌地愛下去，愛那原有生活，愛那不愛的男人。

這一篇獻給顧影自憐的女人。

「誰要你可憐？你憑甚麼同情我？哈，先照照你自己吧！」

早前我聽聞有討論區有人問：「有沒有好靚的女人但係好窮的？」問得太客氣了，問題的邪惡前設其實是：你靚就應該會有錢，你沒錢就是因為你笨啊！

我們的社會就是這麼奇怪，一邊歧視女人貪慕虛榮，一邊卻反問人怎麼不去貪慕虛榮。背後的陰謀就是想推翻不利的比較，想證明窮人才可得到真愛，富人只能得到贗品，削人幸福來心理平衡。女人終其一生都想擺脫這種目光，卻不由自主地這樣平衡自己、質疑自己、說服自己：

我愛他給我的好處，我就成了不道德的女人？

貪慕虛榮有甚麼問題？我只要得到我想要的東西！

《Candide》的女主角Cunegonde沒有死，輾轉流落巴黎，被猶太富商和紅衣主教輪流包養，一三五，二四六，換回榮華富貴，金銀珠寶。「這就是我想要的幸福生活嗎？」我想這是每一個情婦都會質疑的問題，但只有Cunegonde這個女人可以完完全全表現出當中哀怨與狂喜、羞愧和榮耀、自信與自卑、誠實和虛假的矛盾。

〈Glitter and be gay〉，這首歌就是講述Cunegonde如何一個人顧影自憐。先是哀嘆淪落，忽然狂喜所擁有的一切，高亢之中又急轉直下，又在哀嘆中發現到自己沒有理由去投訴——正正是「無權投訴」，讓掙扎的靈魂困在樂觀的外殼中。
